winddawn Posted September 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2014 What ships go to Tortola? Thanks for any info. Beth Hi, Beth. I'm sorry that you have experienced rude behavior here. Carnival has limited options to visit Tortola; however, Carnival Liberty will call in Tortola next year. The ship leaves Port Canaveral on Sunday, March 22nd and visits St. Thomas, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, and Tortola, and then ends in San Juan. Southwest Airlines now flies to/from San Juan if you live near a city that Southwest flies from. That is a pretty sweet itinerary IMHO! Maybe that will work for you. :-)
funinthesun1964 Posted September 20, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2014 We are considering doing the Mar.22 Liberty Cruise - it stops at ST, Tortola, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, (maybe not in that order) and it ends in San Juan. If we can find airfare not too high to get back home after the cruise.
pauleydm Posted September 20, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) If you go to the Carnival website and type the port you want to go to in the search box, usually the first search result is the link to Carnival's page for that particular port. You can then search for cruises that stop at the desired port :) Edited September 20, 2014 by pauleydm
klaner64 Posted September 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2014 On Royal Carib you can also search by port and I found cruises leaving from Fort Lauderdale on the Serenade of the Seas that go to Tortola.
Surfwench Posted September 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2014 Went to Tortola last year on the Breeze. BUT all the 2014/2015 itineraries I've seen substitute San Juan for Tortola.
golfadj Posted September 20, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2014 I thought I had read that NCL and Disney were paying for the pier, which meant they had almost exclusivity of it. Too bad, we loved Tortola when we went a year ago April on the Breeze Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app That is probably what we all read. Went to virgin gorda from tortola a few years ago and one of our best excursions ever and would love to go back.
Rare Tapi Posted September 20, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Looking at this winter season, the following cruise lines call on Tortola: Costa Crystal Cunard MSC Norwegian Oceania P&O Royal Caribbean Costa seems to be (by far) the cruise line with the most visits, which is interesting since they are a Carnival Corp owned cruise line. If they are such a frequent visitor to Tortola, why isn't Carnival? I had asked a BDM after I read it and was told that NCL was redoing the pier and deciding who could and could not stop. Your Costa comment surprises me. Orison Posted September 20, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 20, 2014 They could "easily stop here using tenders, but have chosen not to. Having been here, it is a port pretty much down on my list. The fact that the most popular tour is to leave Tortola says it all.
klaner64 Posted September 20, 2014 #17 Share Posted September 20, 2014 Another place you can check is cruisetimetables.com. Scroll down to the cruise destinations and choose it then pick the time of year you are interested in and it will show what ships will be there then. TPFKAH Posted September 20, 2014 #20 Share Posted September 20, 2014 We went to Tortola on Freedom, stayed on the island and LOVED it! Beautiful! It is our favorite port. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Cruise Critic App We did the same. We went up over the hill down the other side to Cane Garden Bay. Was a little distressed at what a poor area we went through to get there toward the end, being under the impression that some celebrities have million dollar homes on the island. I guess we went in the wrong direction.
