geovet Posted December 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2014 I had no problem with my 13 year old son on our last two Sunshine cruises. We even sat at the bar to watch football.
navybaby1113 Posted December 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2014 I don't see a problem with it. Be aware that it is connected to the casino and you can smell smoke in the bar. It gave me a headache a couple times on the Liberty.
cruizinisthebest Posted December 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2014 Yes he can go in there and enjoy watching the game. Just sit on the side that opposite of the casino. I believe they have some kind of games mounted on tablets at the tables too. I imagine kids like that.
serene56 Posted December 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2014 Took the Grand daughter in there while playing sports trivia. I did not have a problem doing so
hannahouse Posted December 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2014 My 13 year old and I spent many hours watching games together in the sports bar while my husband kept himself busy in the casino :)

travelbumsboston Posted December 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Took our 8 year old in there many times while on the Pride Thanksgiving week. He loved it. Two things to note they are not allowed to sit at the bar and they can not play the xbox games supplied within the bar. Learned this from the bartender as my grandson wanted to play the Xbox and the bartender politely said he could not and then he politely advised me that he could not sit at the bar but the rest of the place was open to him. cruizinisthebest Posted December 10, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 10, 2014 I don't know the xbox set up but they can play those games mounted to the tables. My son did. It was on the first day and nobody was in there. Maybe that's why.

evandbob Posted December 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Old joke about a dad looking for bonding time with his son, so he takes the boy to the bar. Dad gets him a beer, the kid tastes it, grimaces, and won't drink it, so Dad downs it. Dad buys the buy some red wine, but again, the boy makes a face and spits it out, so Dad drinks the wine. Dad tries one last time with some aged scotch, but now the boy refuses to even taste it once he gets a whiff of its bouquet, so Dad drinks that too. Frustrated, Dad puts the lad back in his stroller and wheels him home.
cccer Posted December 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Before EA sports bar but I remember taking my son into the sports bar on the Liberty when they still had video poker at the bar. They let him sit at the bar and watch me play video poker, but they would not let him play, he was 7 at the time,

Sure. He "paid" a fare like all others. He just can't have alcohol.
SteelerCruiser Posted December 14, 2014 #16 Share Posted December 14, 2014 My son who was 8 in May on the Conquest really liked it because it allowed for video game time as the have EA Sports games for Xbox 360 to play for free as well as Ipads set up on the tables to play. Rare LMaxwell Posted December 14, 2014 #17 Share Posted December 14, 2014 Why would you want to take a child into a bar? It's a public space on the ship with no age restriction for guests to hang out in. Get over yourself.
nissach Posted December 14, 2014 #18 Share Posted December 14, 2014 It's a public space on the ship with no age restriction for guests to hang out in. Get over yourself. Chill out yourself. For good reasons, there should be a 'few' spaces (not all) on a ship that children are not permitted. Wow, crazy thought, a bar might be one of them. And a bar connected to casino. Just because it is on a ship should not mean that it is appropriate for children.
ETinCA Posted December 14, 2014 #19 Share Posted December 14, 2014 After 10pm they don't permit kids if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise they can go and mine often do as well. Even some sports trivia will be there. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

We were on the Liberty last spring and took our 3 kids into the sports bar every evening before dinner. Some of the tables had tablets with little video games we played. Note we did not sit right up at the bar though, just in one of the booths and never had a problem.

Disconnections Posted December 15, 2014 #25 Share Posted December 15, 2014 Why would you want to take a child into a bar? If the child has bottomless bubbles, they can only be served a beverage at a bar or from a bar waiter. A waiter may not be in the same location as the child. Take it up with Carnival if you're disappointed in their suggestion of a child going to a bar [unsupervised].
