HAL Employee Arrested for Theft

Ironic- I remember a similar situation when we were on Noordam 3 in the early 80's. A group of casino employees were embezzling as I recall. Fellow passengers saw them being escorted off in handcuffs.

It was the talk of the ship for a couple of days.

interesting.

The ships are like small towns. There can be 'bad eggs' anywhere, so considering the sizes of the ships and the number of employees, it still is a very safe way to travel. As a passenger, it pays to ask to see your account charges from time to time, just to be sure you don't see any irregularities.

I check ours everyday.

We do tend to hold HAL staff and crew in high regard, so it is so sad when something like this comes to light.

Just because they smile in your face and "yes sir/maam" you while making your bed , cleaning your toilet and remembering what you you drink at dinner, doesn't make them saints .

It strikes me as good that they picked up on this so quickly. So many times we read of these things going on for long periods of time. If these were the only occurances it sounds like there is a fairly effective set of checks and balances in place. Or the individual did something that made it easy to detect.

(I was going to say "did something stupid" but stealing is just plain stupid IMO.)

What about his future jail sentence : in USA or in his native country ? Is he going to have to pay or something ?

Thanks for the info.

He hasn't had a trial or been convicted yet. ;)

Innocent until proven guilty.

He confessed of being guilty!

Just because he confessed doesn't mean he's been convicted. He still has to appear at least before a judge to plead and be sentenced. He might also still plead not guilty depending on his attorney.

What on heavens are you talking about? Who are "they'?

I think you should apologize to every person who ever smiles, calls you sir/madam, making your bed, cleaning your toilet, and remembers your drink at dinner.

Don't forget passengers are not always saints either!

NOBODY is a saint 100% of the time.

I was referring to the way people on these boards (and it happens on all boards not just HAL) just can't grasp that one of their beloved staff or crew can be capable of any type of wrong doing.
