Cruise-Crazzy Posted January 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Sailed on the Royal last April. I enjoyed the horn, it added to the excitement sailing out of Port Everglades. I think it should be kept unique to just several ships.
Pam in CA Posted January 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Not as recognizable or iconic as When You Wish Upon a Star. Plus who owns the rights?Princess must since two ships already have the Love Boat theme horn. And IMHO, the "Love Boat" is as recognizable and iconic as "When You Wish Upon a Star." :) Particularly among cruisers. To answer the OP's question, I do think it would be fun to have the theme on all Princess ships. It's distinctive and fun.
SHayesShip Posted January 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Just watched both the Regal and Royal sail out of Port Everglades blowing their horns to the Love Boat theme. Very cool and a lot of fun. I also agree that it is VERY ICONIC and very special to me. Edited January 18, 2015 by SHayesShip
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted January 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I love Princess, the Regal, and The Love Boat show, BUT I find the Love Boat horn mostly annoying and piercing. 😏 I appreciate the novelty of it, but after the first time hearing it, I was ready to go back to the classic. Times Prince Posted January 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2015 So the emergency muster station signal is now 7 verses of "The Love Boat" followed by an orchestral version of the Titanic theme?
AZbeachboy Posted January 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I was on the Sapphire 1 1/2 years ago and it seems they played the turn while leaving port. But I do not remember it being on the horn.
tvaud Posted January 21, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Last year on the Royal, I looked forward to that horn in every port. I wish they would put it on fleet wide. It is the brand...

Agree entirely. It was an exciting moment at each port. Wonder what Princess pays for the rights to use it?
gowilk Posted January 21, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 21, 2015 Must be me...but we were on the royal last year for 21 days and WAY 2 many renditions of that once delightful song....I personally hated it at the end and am glad they don't have it on the diamond this year. Like they say, it takes all kinds.
beg3yrs Posted January 21, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I've enjoyed the tune but was on the Royal for only 10 nights so didn't have too much time to get tired of it. That said, I suspect those upgraded horns could play other melodies as well. How about "Anchors Aweigh" when passing a US Navy ship? - Salute Or the theme from the movie Titanic when passing a Cunard ship? - Tease Or "Roll Over Beethoven" - OK, I'll stop there ... but others can pile on ... Thrak Posted January 21, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I guess a lot of people like it. To me it's a "meh" kind of thing. If they change all ships in the fleet to play the tune I'm sure many will be very happy. I couldn't care less. I just love to cruise and love the product Princess provides. abisha Posted January 21, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 21, 2015 They had it on the Ruby which I thought was fun..didn't know they did it, and it caught me by surprise. I thought all their ships have it? If not, which ones do?
