Back from Breakaway CTN - Daily Scans and Observations

When I first looked at the title of this thread I thought it said daily scams.

Seriously, does anyone know what they charge for the two-day spa pass and how early can you use it on the first day?

I read in the day one daily, page 2 I think, it is $45 for the 2 days. I believe it said the spa is open at 12 or 1 on the first day til 10pm.

I hadn't considered purchasing it, but it might be a nice thing to do especially on the sea day. However, now I just read that it was super croweded and not comfortable.

Any other spa experiences (for the pass) on the 2-night CTN?

Thanks for the info on the Spa passes. Might have to reconsider if its going to be that crowded. We did it when we were on the Epic and it was more then worth the price. I guess when its a week people space it out a little more then if its just one day. Makes me feel a little better about not splurging for the Spa Balconies.

I just got off the 12 day ba and I too noticed the balcony smoking thing in the dailies. I immediately brought it to the attention of guest services and they were very upset that it was not stated clearly that there is no smoking on the balcony

They reported it immediately to the onboard printer and by that night the dailies were corrected

Guest services sent a fruit plate to my cabin as a thank you. It went uneaten and a free drink coupon would have been more appreciated or a $10 obc

My take...... They are using templates from previous ctns and last years 12 day which of course was prior to the no smoking ban on the balconies

What is absolutely comical is that the printer was notified of this error and corrected the error as of day 3 of the 12 day cruise......

I guess they couldn't remember to correct it when the itin changed for the ctn and would guess the mistake will show up again when they revert back to the Bahamas and Bermuda itins.....

Amazing isn't it?

Ncl are you reading these boards????? You should be.

We were also on this sailing. Anyone see the guy in clown costume running around the casino Saturday night?

We did A LOT of people watching on this cruise. :D

I kinda knew what we were in for on a 2 day in dead of winter. The only complaint we had was breakfast Saturday - apparently everyone showed up at the same time to eat it was a mess.

Loved all the entertainment options and we did as many as we could! We ate at Cagney's and Le Bistro, both were good.

Great crew that seemed happy to be there! We also found the passengers to be in happy moods overall. It was pleasant, mostly.

violettewaits - we must have been sitting next to you at muster - I couldn't believe how many times people were out of line and heckling.

Also found the ship really easy to navigate like you both did. That was a plus.

Thanks for the review! :D

Were you in the Theatre for muster? Hubby & I were in the last two rows, and there seemed to have been an altercation of sorts going on during muster. When it was over, Security had been called in. We left the Theatre, but wondered if the the offending people were to be escorted off the boat. All I heard was a woman saying if she had to go, then the other guy had to go too.

Yes!! We were indeed in the Theater for muster and maybe 5-6 rows behind us was a guy yelling things out non-stop about being from "Queensbridge" and drinking Hennesey, etc. Then I heard a commotion to the right of us with ANOTHER male wanting to have security called for some reason? Oh boy.

Hi all, Anyone remember if there was a poker tournament on the CTN? I asked on a few other blogs and so far I got 1 yes and 2 nos. Just hoping for at least one other yes :) We will be on 1/30 and my brother in law is hoping for a poker tournament.

Unfortunately, I don't believe there was one, and I spend a good while in the Casino. Checking back at the Dailies confirms my assumption. :(

My wife and we're on the cruise with 2 other couples. Got on about 12:30. Pretty much no lines. Dropped luggage off in cabins. The crew was always smiling and friendly.

Sailing out of New York at night is amazing. Seeing the city is breath taking.

we found our fellow cruisers to be friendly and fun to chat with.

the ship was hopping late into the night for sure. There is music everywhere. There was always something going on in three atrium.

We enjoyed the cirque dinner show and moderno. We had lunch on Friday in Moderno. While it was a limited buffet, it was not crowded which made for a relaxing time.

At night is was crowded on decks 7 and 8, but tolerable. One poster mentioned people watching. How true. Alot of people having fun.

The only place where getting reservations was a challenge seemed to be Cagneys. The touch screen reservation set up was easy to use.

I observed casino staff tell people by bar 21 area they couldn't smoke there.

Smooth sailing the whole trip. It was cold outside, despite the daily saying 65 degrees. The Captain said the cold pushed further south than expected.

It was their 1st cruise for our friends. They loved it.

Sunday was slow in the terminal due to customs. I am not what security value it serves for a cruise to no where. To have to go through customs.

I highly recommend this cruise for quick weekend away.

This was the worst time getting through customs for a CTN. Usually, since they started the whole customs process for CTNs, it was never an issue. The forms would be collected and off you went. This time, we had to actually line up and go to an individual window. This took forever, especially since they made us go to the side that only had three agents (one for special needs window) as opposed to the other side which had four. The other side was flowing out more than twice as fast as we were. I can only assume that the fact that we are in a heightened state of security, it made a difference. But then again, we didn't go anywhere.

WOW I am shocked to hear this. My dh and I were on this cruise we got off as soon as they announced we could. We walked straight up to the window showed our id and gave our custom forms and off we went. We are also booked on the 1/30 cruise and will do the same thing to avoid what you just described.

A friend of mine was on the 1/16 and said the lines were very long too.

It was much quicker leaving from a CTN before they started collecting Customs forms (about 2 years ago). But I guess we might as well get used to this.

I guess if you are early risers you can avoid the lines. As soon as we heard the announcement we stopped having breakfast and went right to our cabin grabbed our bag and got right off the ship with no problem. I know a lot of people like to enjoy every minute before leaving but my dh and I are the total opposite. When its over its over. :( We get there very early to enjoy every minute but then also leave as soon as we are allowed too. :D

I was on the left side and it moved quickly (10-12 minutes and I was through probably 9:30ish), I actually had to thank the customs agent, he looked at my cousins passport and let us know that the GW was closed in both directions so she came home with me (Bronx) and her mother picked her up later that afternoon from my house.

I was told there was a fist fight (due to line cutting) at the top of the escalator to disembark. This backed things up a bit.

We were also off very early no line at all but we did contend with a very icy walk to our truck at the pier.

Nice to read everyone's replies that were on this sailing! :)

Wow that was very nice of him. Traffic was nuts due to all the icy roadways!
