Question on 5 day to Cabo

Hello to all

The wife and I just returned 3/21/15, from a 7 day Mexico cruise on the Crown Princess, first time with Princess, we had a Great trip. The only problem was the stop in Cabo was way to short, we have are next cruise booked on the Crown for the 6 day repositioning cruise up to Vancouver BC next year but would like to fit a short cruise in between . We noticed a 5 day cruise that stays in Cabo over night and I have a question from ones that have taken this cruise. Mostly what time do you need to be back on ship for the night? or will the tenders run all night long.

Thanks for any information

This is the first for Princess so no one has done it yet.

Actually, I do believe Princess has done the overnight in Cabo before. A few years ago my folks had booked the traditional 7-day Mex Riv cruise, but it was the year of all the problems in Mexico when Princess (and many other cruise lines) altered the itineraries (nixing both Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta). I'm pretty sure that one of the changes was that the ship stayed in Cabo over night. I'll ask my folks and see if I can get information. I'll report back, but someone else who sailed during that time may provide the info more quickly.

We went on a similar cruise in 2012 on the Carnival Splendor. We had two consecutive days in Cabo, but they were treated as two separate days. The ship wasn't allowed to just hang around in the harbor all night, so passengers were required to be back on the ship about 7.

The ship sailed around in circles overnight, then returned to the harbor for tenders in the morning. I hope Princess has a better arrangement, but if I really wanted to know, I'd call Princess and ask.

Wow. I've never heard of Princess doing an overnight in Cabo!

The Star will be doing this at the end of November... there are two planned. If we end up not going to Tahiti, we'll definitely be doing those!

Since Princess isn't Carnival, they may do things differently...

In order to open the casinos, the ship will need to pull up anchor and sail out to the legal distance from the coast and just cruise in circles. It's doubtful that it will stay in the harbor overnight. I have read that some people (another cruise line) have requested staying ashore, booking a room for the night). However, if there is a storm that prevents the ship from returning and dropping anchor, you would be stuck ashore and miss the remaining portion of your cruise.

So, I just checked the itinerary and it definitely is an overnighter. I will be interested in finding out how the tender will run.

Just back from 5 day NCL cruise from LA to CABO with an overnight in Cabo. We anchored in harbor overnight. Tenders ran every half hour from midnight to 5am. Keep in mind it was Norwegian but just letting you know what we did on a scheduled overnighter. Princess may be entirely different. We loved not having to rush back to the ship.

Actually, we cruised Princess in 2011 and the ship stayed overnight in Cabo. We stayed anchored and did not go back out to sea for the evening.

OP, if I recall correctly the tenders stopped around midnight.

We were on a New Year's cruise a few years back on Sapphire Princess that overnighted in Cabo. The tenders ran until about midnight or so. You could have certainly stayed ashore (and I know some folks did... :) ). The ship stayed anchored all night. The two Carnival ships that were with us left and then came back in the morning (probably to open their casinos). We had a blast... went to Cabo Wabo while there was actually a band playing. 'Twas fun! We might do the 5-day on Star too...

We are booked on the Nov 20th 5 day and were wondering if they ran all night.

I am booked on this cruise and I fully expect tenders to run all night long just like the NCL Jewel did. I plan to be out late at Cabo Wabo. If they wanted us back by midnight they would have listed that as an end time the first night. I also did the Carnival cruise with back to back days in Cabo; its itinerary clearly stated we had to be back on the ship in the early evening so they could sail out to do their circles.

Well, in my experience with a Princess overnight in Cabo, I think you're going to be disappointed.

You do not have to be back by midnight, just have to wait five or six hours for the next tender to the ship.

Don't know about PCL, but we just got off the NCL Star and a 5 dayer to Cabo. We love these 5 dayers.

We did not go out to sea as we did on previous cruises. The ship was moored in the harbor and had a tender running all night !

Thanks to all on the information supplied, sorry I could not reply sooner, I go on a cruise for a week and get back to work it seemed nothing had been done.

I called Princess today and was told the ship will stay in port with tenders running through the night. Looks like a good cruise.
