I am already considering Alaska for 2016. I can't forget to buy a wetsuit first. :D I hope she sails there for a few years, as we really want to go there in 2017.

I cancelled the Anthem out of NYC in January in favor of the Navigator of the seas for the Norwegian Fjords in May/June. I am not sure which is crazier. I am wondering how heavy of a wetsuit I will need!!!:eek:

 

I must say a flowrider in Alaska has put Alaska on my radar. Although many years ago I went scuba diving with the casino staff on the Celebrity Galaxy in Barbados, and they told me that the summer in Alaska, they had a total of 12 nice days....:eek:

We cancelled the Quantum for 3.14.15 to go back on the Independence because I HATE being cold. So for me, Alaska + Flowrider = NO :D Heck, we rented out the Flowrider this weekend (Houston, TX) and the air was about 80-83 degrees but the water was STILL too cold for me, brrrrrrrrrrrrrr :eek:

Yeah... last June the average high on my Alaska cruise was 60°! I love me some flowrider but you wouldn't see me doing one in those temps! :eek:

The water is warm, the problem is the air. Still, I now feel much better about my Fjords booking, my wife has dealt with the other bit all of her married life....:D:eek:

The Explorer is currently being refurbished to give her upgrades similar to what Navigator received. IE more cabins, more specialty restaurants and a flowrider.

They need to add cantilevered hot tubs at the flowrider, with a take a ticket number line like at the Passport Office. :D

Cruising Alaska is on our bucket list of cruises, and I love the flowrider, but you won't see me on the flowrider on an Alaskan cruise....wet suit or no wet suit. I hope they heat up the hot tubs a little more on those cruises.

 

But for now we are limited in our cruise itineraries....for Alaska we want to take two weeks, a week for the cruise and a few days prior and post for additional sightseeing.....and an extra day of travelling each way....it just doesn't fit our life, yet.

There was a notice on Independence that the flow Rider would be closed if the temperature reached 50 degrees or lower. Fortunately, that was not an issue in the Caribbean.:)

I only stopped to watch the people ride the flowrider a few times, but the lines were not long. You might have it to yourself in Alaska.

We were saying on the Allure last month that they should add a cantilevered hot tub at the back of the Harmony by the Wipeout bar that overlooked the wake from the ship. It would be great for riders to take a dip in to warm up and I am sure it would be well used by non-riders as well. Even better if you had a view of the flowrider to sit in the hot tub and watch others.
