Room service and to go food

Some people really just don't know how all this works. I'm sure people don't do it so others find out everything they can about them. OTOH, one can't live in a box either. Just need to be careful.

Human beings are social animals. I am new to FB, and twitter I only used for NCL. I agree one has to be careful!

I would hate for Cruisers on CC to be so paranoid, that they stop posting live from the ships with photos.

Speaking of photos, perhaps someone can post a photo of a hallway on an NCL ship where plates with "leftovers" (from sneaking food to your room or from room service) are lying on the floor outside of your cabin. Would this entice more cruisers to try NCL?

All I know is, if I see someone eating on their balcony while I'm trying to sneak

a cigarette I'm turning you in. Better keep them room service receipts handy.

On a more serious note. IMO anyone that thinks this is simply a 5 pp per day

attempt by FDR, I don't buy it.

IMO it's much larger than that. Room service will not be utilized to the extent it was previously. Less food to order, less people to deliver etc etc.

Possibly people eliminated from the staff, or reassigned duties.

With cruise prices fluctuating 100's of dollars per day, would a 5 dollar pp, per day increase that remained forever, been noticed? I think not. Behind the scenes they could of called it the Del Rio Tax. No, there is a much bigger agenda to this.

I remember back during the anti smoking zealot threads, it was mentioned what's next.........

Well here it is.

Don't let me catch you sneaking food.

Actually that is the true problem... Many fb users just don't know how it works and don't understand what friends...friends of friends...public....actually mean and just how many potential fb users can see what they post...their pix...their plans etc

That is why I never "like" or post on any fb thread that is in the public domain...just look for the little globe sign and you know you are posting for the entire fb world to see

It's fairly well known by now that people stalk fb to see if you post your vacay plans....so posting live from a ship would be risky

It's not being paranoid it's being realistic and knowing that there are bad guys out there

And let's be honest by this point everyone knows social media is a double edged sword anyway

Just mho of course

Just read of this new NCL "rule" today and cannot believe how rapidly the cruise industry is racing to the "bottom." No, bringing food back to the cabin is not something I would likely every do. In my 135 cruises I only recall maybe once doing that. That said, I surely think it should be someone's right to do s if they wish. No doubt as others have said this is all somewhat connected to the new room service charge.

I once respected Mr. Del Rio when he ran Oceania but I am rapidly loosing all respect for him quickly since he took the helm of NCL. While Oceania

is likely the only cruise line I would ever sail with in the future if I ever sail again, I am now less likely to do so as am now suspicious as to what he is up to with them as well!

135 cruises and no more!

There will be 'food police' to make sure that everyone finish all the BBQ, hot dog, pastry, and etc. before they can leave.

Washy washy crew on the way in and blocky blocky crew on the way out! :D

So if I read their new policy correctly, when I get back from a tour or a private island for-the-day, I cannot stop at the pizzeria and bring a few slices to my cabin? Or grab a sandwich to enjoy on my balcony? Well guess what, NCL!!!

If there is no Take-Away on the Getaway or the Breakaway, or Escaping on to my cabin with something to eat, I will be cruising on any other brand that has a more liberal policy and will let me enjoy a snack in my cabin. Shame on you, NCL!

There will be plates and cups in the room from room service. There's no difference.

Somehow I think a lot of the room stewards would think twice about reporting anyone in fear of not getting any tips at the end of the cruise. I have even read reports of room stewards bringing ashtrays to people for $$ (not at all saying this is right, they are breaking the rules themselves now and I would think they would be fired for doing so)...just saying. Most of them go out of their way to make you have an enjoyable time.

Plus who's to say you bring a plate back to your room to consume and then when you leave you take it back out with you? With people putting their trays outside the doors...who's to say someone isn't going to walk a few doors down and put their tray by someone else's door making it look like it never came from them? (I've had this done to me several times...open the door and empty dishes...like ). Done with your plate and don't want it to be found? Stick it under your bed...you know the room stewards don't look under there during the cruise...if they did, they would have picked up the dirty underwear left from a previous cruise in my room. There's plenty of ways to "hide" the evidence and I'm pretty sure people would get pretty darn creative. I'm not at all saying for everyone to go against the rules, just saying it will happen.

I have been VIP several times and they bring your plates of "goodies" to the room...where they might sit and sit all day long. I guess they don't have any concern for my health when it comes to this food and possible illness or the dishes that will need to be cleaned up from this as well.

I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I have ever brought food back to my room (and it usually involved our young daughter), so it really doesn't have too much of an impact on me. But now being told that I won't be "allowed" (like if I'm a child) and if there's ever a need for it, you bet I will do it. If they try to charge me a cleaning fee...they can have my DSC as a cleaning fee because those will be removed. ;)

NCL will probably get 2 more cruises out of me (the one I have coming up and to use up my FCC) and I will be the biggest cheapskate there ever was on them. Then I will move on and cruise with another line. I'm almost ashamed to say I cruise with Norwegian at this point. :(

Well said. I really wish I didn't have a FCC. I have 2 upcoming cruises booked. If these absurdities continue I will have to consider cancelling.

Deleted because it wouldn't attach the funny meme I made [emoji20] lol.

There used to be another fella that made memes, he was banned from what I hear. Truly sad if you ask me

That's why I have everything on my FB page set to friends only. I also don't befriend just anyone. If I don't actually know them.....I ignore the request.

Photos.....nothing shows up that can identify me or my family. My FB page is set so it can't be 'searched'. If one searches my name, nothing about me shows up via google. My friends can't even see who my friends are as I've set it up that way. I only wish I could set it up that my friends friends can't see that I'm their friends friend. Meaning if I'm a friend of Julie all Julie's friends can see that I'm her friend. That's the one thing I don't like. I keep my friends private.....but not everyone does. :( One other thing I wish I could change on FB is who can contact me. There are only two choices....everyone or friends of friends. But then again, unless I know the person I ignore the request.

He wasn't banned. He is away for business.

Whew, good to know. Wouldn't want to get banned for something so silly. Mine was good, too...it involved The Most Interesting Man in the World sticking pretzel rolls down his pants [emoji13]

NCL is turning into Carnival. Carnival is cheap but niches and dimes on everything. NCL is quickly on their heels. Just cancelled 3 cruises and will be booking on RCL.

Hope you checked out the threads on RCL's "overpriced" drinks and other assorted cutbacks.
