I am confused about the Red White & Blue Sale. October 24, 2015 sailing on the Regal shows Balcony $999 w/$100.00 OBC. Details of Sale say up to $300.00 shore excursion credit. Is shore excursion credit in addition to $100.00 OBC

The small print says

^Up to $300 FREE shore excursion spending money is in the form of an onboard credit. Up to $300 USD ($150 per person) shore excursion spending money per stateroom applies to select sailings and varies according to category booked. Offer is applicable to first/second-berth guests only.

I assume the $100 OBC you see is the shore excursion money.

Also note that: Past guests may qualify for lower fares than those advertised that do not combine with the shore excursion credit offer.

It appears that for 10/24 on the Regal, balcony OBC is $100 per person/$200 per cabin. Minis and full suites are $150 per person/$300 per cabin. That is where the "up to" comes in.

As another poster mentioned, OBC is generally able to be used for any onboard charge, regardless of how it is advertised, but this is always subject to change.

Just to clarify; when I look at the Princess site for your cruise, it appears the credits are one and the same, not one in addition to the other.

I am hoping it can be used for other than shore excursions since we usually do our own thing while in ports. Guess I will have to clarify this with my CVP. Thank you all for your help. We have cruised with Princess since 2006 and have never run across a "shore excursion credit" before - thus my confusion.

I would not count on an accurate answer. :(

I had a similar Shore Excursion Credit from a promotion on a trans-Atlantic cruise last December. It was listed as onboard credits along with my Military Benefits, Onboard Sales Promotion (from Future Cruise Deposit), and Shareholders Benefits. The only restriction was that it was not refundable - it had to be used on the cruise. There was no requirement to use it for shore excursions; it could have been used for anything else charged to my onboard account on the ship - hotel charges (gratuities), drinks, purchases in the shops, etc.

LOL...I know...thats why I was asking the CC experts instead.

No one on CC can tell you what Princess will do on your cruise. All we can tell you is what they did on our cruise. There's no guarantee that they will be consistent.

The booking lists it as on board credit (not shore excursion credit). I hope they will treat it the same as NavyVeteran experienced...cause I gave up my complimentary gratuities when the price dropped and they added the OBC to the cruise. Actually I refared it the day before the Red White and Blue Advertisement and there was no mention of shore excursion credit that day online...just OBC. Maybe I can get my CVP to clarify in writing via email.

We just booked the 11/10 Royal sailing and our personalizer states:

Onboard Sales Promotion* $50 (each)

*Please enjoy these credit onboard as they are not refundable.

This also applies to our FCC onboard credit

I am taking that to mean that we can use the credit for anything onboard, including gratuities as they have been in the past.

We were able to re-fare our November Royal reservation to save about $600, and the $100pp OBC shows up as just that on our reservation. There is no difference in how it is listed compared to how the $50pp credit from our FCC is listed.

RWB special is $250 more P/P than we booked earlier with the casino promo and we also have free gratuities. Now the OBC would still make it $150 more P/P. We are 10 day sailing in Nov

I guess we did not qualify for the casino rate...how did you find out about that promotion...do you spend alot of money in the casino?

I called to book the cruise after seeing the price go down after clicking on the room. Did not receive email and was told this was a casino promo by staff.

Do not spend a lot of money............but they do get some coin.
