Hi Folks! I guess I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how did you feel. I received a Casino at Sea comp for an inside room for 2. Very nice. So I called to book and requested a Haven Suite and I was told I could use the value of the comp toward the Haven, very nice. But, the comps that come with the Haven would not be available to us, only the comps for an inside cabin. I would have thought if I was paying extra for the Haven the comps would come along with it. Just disappointing for me and I have moved on. Anyone else ever run into this situation?

That has always been, your perks are based on your comp and not your upgrade.

The only way to really benefit from the 4 perks is to book through Harrah's tiers and taking the discount on the rooms therefore you would be entitled to all 4 perks.

Yep. Used my CAS comp for an inside & upgraded to a balcony and only got the $25 OBC that was being offered at the time. Would have loved to get the UDP that balconies were offered, but with what I'm saving on the room itself we can buy the UDP if we really want it.

can you link your harrahs total rewards and CAS cards? reason i ask is because their CAS comp was a joke so after a few days and down $1100 i stopped playing.

No. They are separate things (even if owned by the same parent company). However, if you call CAS directly, they may give you good offers on your next cruise. Our first onboard comp was only $25 off our bill, but they have since comped us cabins and sent us offers for free sailings/slot tournaments. We always play in the casino, so we always book through them now *unless we have a certificate from a land based casino to use.

You have a few answers already, but not sure if they are correct. There are no "comps" that come with cabins that I know of. What are the "comps" you are talking about here.

 

Meanwhile, when you are doing CAS pricing, lots of strange things happen. Logic is often the least of it.

I believe the "comps" means promos. When you book through CAS using a free cabin certificate, you are only eligible for the promos on that room category regardless of whether you pay to upgrade. So under the current promo, if I had a free inside and paid to upgrade to Haven, I would only get to pick one of the promos offered for inside cabins. It sucks and under the current promos I'd probably be better off just getting a Haven cabin and disregarding the comped inside.

that's only because a new promo (FREESTYLE CHOICE SPECTACULAR) came out last week that made Insides and studios eligible for the one of the 4 perks.

We had land based casino certificate and booked inside cabin. When the first promo came out, we called CAS, but could only get offers for the inside cabin.

 

BUT, we were able to cancel the inside cabin, and CAS comped us a balcony so we could get the offers.

why did you cancel the Inside?

 

you could have taken that 'free' cruise with the inside room, AND taken another 'free' cruise in the balcony.

 

the free cruise from land based casino certificate should have nothing to do with a CAS free cruise offer.

Wanted to get the free UBP, and we couldn't get it with the inside comp. instead we booked two cruises direct with CAS and received the UBP for both cruises, with better itineries. We basically cruise three times/year. Booked into 2016. Will see how many changes made by then...hopefully no more by CAS.

I've only ever got the perks for the original offer, not the upgraded cabin.

As have I. That's CAS rules. You can upgrade to whatever you want and pay the difference....but the promo is ONLY for what you are comped.

I do, however, check for new promotions. On my December cruise, I noticed a promotion and got the UBP perk added to my reservation and a slight decrease in the fare. It pays to keep an eye out for price changes and promotions.

Agree! And sometimes...I'm even lucky enough to call CAS and there is no additional charge and they just give me the new promo.

if that free Inside from the land casino is still available, book it now!

Inside bookings are now eligible for udp/ubp till the end of July.

 

you now have your 3 cruises for the next 12 months. and all 'free' :)

Guess i do have great timing! Glad i booked when i did. I was surprised when the CAS lady said we were eligible for one of the 4 perks. A happy surprise!

Just booked last Friday.

 

Current promotion i.e. the one in that applied last Friday includes Inside cabins, that is why you received the choice. Your upgrade had no impact on the promotions you received.

 

I rebooked in February, $25 OBC and 3rd passenger free applied for the booking due to the offer being for an inside cabin. In June I looked to change to the new promotion and could get the UBP, but the 3rd passenger free was now gone. I stayed with the original trip. We upgraded to a balcony back in February, only the inside cabin offers applied.
