Liberty to get waterslide

Recommended Posts

I would bet that Flowrider is staying. They are putting Flowriders on all the Voyager class ships, can't see them removing one.

Where do you think they are getting the Floriders to put in the Voyager class ships?

I hope that it does not require them to remove the reserved pool loungers for suite guests. We will be in our first GS next year and looking forward to not having to fight for a lounger. LoL

That would be a good launch point into the solarium. Never thought it was a premium location anyway.

Interesting, we will be on the Liberty in August. My husband and I were talking the other night(even before the sliding board post ), that RCCL was getting too family oriented and we are going back to Celebrity after this.

We have done numerous Celebrity and HAL cruises, even one each on Crystal and Silversea for special occasions and certain itineraries.

When we decided to do the Caribbean again this past fall we did the Allure and loved it. It really was great for that itinerary. We wanted to do the New England/Canada and Royal had a nice 10 day.

As some of the other posters have stated, we also don't want a playground atmosphere either and this will probably be our last RCCL cruise.

Don't worry about the New England/Canada cruise having a playground atmosphere.

In 2013 we did the EOS New England/Canada cruise and I think we had only seen 2 school age kids on the ship. There were only a few younger couples with pre-school age children. I would say that at least 90% of the passengers were above 60.

From what I have been told this is normal for this cruise.

We did Canada/New England with our toddler this past October. There were very few kids onboard. Six baby/toddler aged and a few elementary aged kids. Mostly empty nesters and retirees onboard.

My only complaint that getting an elevator was VERY difficult, lots of crowds waiting in the elevator areas. Having a stroller with us on port days required long waits to go up/down, otherwise we took the stairs to avoid crowds.

I'm not worried too much about kids. It is the end of August and we return Labor Day weekend so yes some will have started school some will have not.

I am not opposed to kids being on the ship, my initial comment was a general comment about the direction that Royal is going and the demographic population that they are trying to attract.

I never cruise in the summer, this is the first time in all of our cruising years. We did do spring break several times but we had our kids with us and were looking at family oriented cruises.

We also did the NE route before during the month of Oct., and there were very few kids.

I know we will have a great time. Royal has a great product, but as they are leaning more and more to family activities, we are leaning in a different direction.

If the slide is in the sports area I think it wouldn't add to the playground atmosphere and my hope would be that it would draw some people away from the pools. When I sailed on Navigator both pools and the Solarium were pretty full at all times. I didn't mind that but one more thing to draw some away from that area and into the sports area where it's more fitting to be crazy and energetic seems like a good idea to me.

I feel like the sports area of the ship is nicely separated from the pool area anyway and as much as I'm an active person who really loves that the ships have things like a rock wall and Flowrider, I so rarely ended up back that way. Some people might even prefer sliding down a water slide to dipping in the pool altogether. I haven't been on Liberty, but since I've heard it's basically a stretched out version of Explorer Class, is there also that super quiet space of deck chairs all the way forward on the top deck? On Navigator it was a ghost town and I bet it could be utilized better if that's the case on Liberty as well. maybe put in some tranquil fountains and hammocks and make it an adult only quiet area.

I see lots of space for new specialty restaurants and staterooms.;)

The old Crown Princess had a casino up there. It was nice. Plus it would isolate the smoke

I truly hope that ends up being the slide area, and not the adult section! If it's the area I'm thinking of, that deck is not handicap accessible. I was disappointed to find that the "Sanctuary" on Princess is usually non-ADA...I just hope RCI doesn't follow suit on this!!! One of the reasons we are loyal to Royal is their accessibility - mobility is an issue that more adults face every year, as the boomers get older.

Freedoms new St Tropez ghost town

On Liberty there's the area above the "Sky Bar" and further forward there is the "St Tropez" area.

Are both of these open to everyone or are either off them restricted to VIP's?

The area above the sky bar is the Gold Card (Suite / Pinnacle) guest sun deck. The deck further forward above the gym / spa is open to anyone.

If Liberty gets cabins on 12, there St Tropez will look just like Freedoms
