Would you Honeymoon on the Getaway?

My fiance and I are getting married November 11, 2016 and we are looking to travel on NCL for the first time. He has only been on Carnival and this October will be his 9th Carnival cruise on his biggest ship the Breeze.

I have been on the Carnival Freedom and RC Majesty of the Seas.

He has been to Belize and Mexico, but not Honduras. I've been to Honduras via plane but not to the others. We know this is the itenerary for us, but would you suggest the Getaway for our Honeymoon?

Our other option is Allure of the Seas to Falmouth, Haiti and somewhere else I think.

If you are sold on this itinerary, go for it! If you are looking for something more romantic or secluded, as mentioned above, you could look into booking in the Haven or a Spa room (or a Haven Spa suite!)

I really enjoyed sailing on the Getaway. There is a ton to do, but also a lot of options for just relaxing and enjoying being married :)

Think both would be great choices.

We've been on the Oasis (Allure sister ship) and thought it was a fantastic ship. We were just on the Getaway a couple of months ago, and we were really pleased with that ship and cruise. If there's a large $$$ difference, why not go with whichever would give you the better deal?

You'd probably have better promotional choices (free drinks, free specialty dining, etc.) with NCL, as I don't think there's much in the way of this right now on RCI.

We thought the Getaway was a gorgeous ship, thought the food was very good, loved the drinks package, and the entertainment was pretty good. So ... if that's the one you're leaning towards, don't think you'd be disappointed at all.

Congratulations on your wedding and good luck whichever one you choose!

My hubby and I honeymooned on the Carnival Pride in a Suite with a wrap-around aft balcony. It was great. Two exposures, two rooms, a huge closet, and a vanity area. And it only cost $2400 total in 2007(and I won $1500 in the casino...4 of a kind on poker and won the slots tournament). We spent 2 days at Disney before hand. It was a great trip and I still remember the great feeling of looking off into the sunset on our first cruise together and our first toast as the ship sailed away. My husband was also delighted that we didn't have to stand in the very lengthy security and check-in lines. We did get some stares while being escorted to the front of the line and to the Suite Check-in (I must admit that was pretty much where the perks stopped but it was a great room!!).

Ahhhh...those were the days! Overall, cruising is more expensive now (despite some of the claims that it isn't more than it was 20 years ago). I say to plan a honeymoon but also shop around all the cruise lines...especially if you're planning to book a suite. All of the majors will periodically run free drink or gratuity promotions so if you have a few months to go maybe you can book and change later if need be (before the penalty stage). The OVs and Balconies on the Getaway for my upcoming cruise are running about $2400 on a non-holiday (I know that they include free UBP but the operative word there is FREE). You can imagine how much more we're paying for a Suite in the Haven this time around...

I would totally honeymoon on a cruise ship and splurge on a suite if you can afford it. I am going on the Getaway this November and on the Jade November 2016 for my destination wedding in Belize or Roatan -still deciding! We have a suite on the Jade and picked that because that is by far my favorite itinerary to date. That may change when I do the Southern Caribbean this April.

The spa on Getaway is the best at sea. If you cannot afford a suite, then get a spa cabin - you will be so glad you did as this is a very serene all adults area and you can spend hours in there as a couple. There is a steam room, salt room, sauna, saunarium and then the water circuit and hot tub. There are also heated tile loungers and padded loungers and the changing rooms offer the best showers on the ship outside of the owner's suite! It is usually uncrowded and just a great place to be on the ship and it has a full view across the entire front of the ship on the 15th floor - wonderful location for sail away.

I sure would honeymoon on the Getaway!!! Of course, others will be with you, but I'd think you'd have a wonderful time!! On our Getaway cruise two months ago there were many honeymooners. The only problem the couple we chatted with quite a bit had was none to take their pictures.....lol. As others have said, maybe splurge for the Haven or a suite if possible. I would think a spa suite would be a nice touch. Very quite up on that end. I LOVE the 14th floor of the Getaway. Very convenient location! I love that itinerary! In fact I have it booked for my family for our vacation next summer. Congratulations!

We are honeymooning on the getaway in 40 days in a spa balcony room. we are both very excited. i may spend most of the time in the thermal suites. the upgrade to the spa balcony was worth the price. the ports of call are negligible, i only care about shopping in cozumel and may some history in grand cayman. Otherwise we will just hang out on the ship and enjoy being away from the tourist capital of the world and enjoying spending time in each others company :p

Why the hell not.....

I had my honeymoon on Pride Of America. I have not been on getaway yet but my bets is that the ship will not let you down.

The Allure is amazing ship. So much to do and see on it. You have to pick which itinerary suits you

My wife and I honeymooned on the Epic and we had an amazing time. I would for sure recommend it. But if I had to be critical, I would say NCL has a bit more of a party atmosphere than some more premium lines. If partying is what you guys want to do, The Getaway is a great choice. But we most recently cruised Celebrity and I must say it has a more classy, relaxed feel. While I love NCL and I'll be sailing the Escape soon, if I had to do it again I would honeymoon on Celebrity as it has a bit more of a swanky feel you would expect on a honeymoon. But with that said, I don't regret us going on the Epic at all.

OH MY GOODNESS....yes to this 1000 times. Go for a spa cabin or spa suite with unlimited access to the spa area. You will feel so pampered in the spa just with the wonderful huge whirlpool baths and such. It is a dreamy space......perfect for honeymooners. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

If you're looking to relax in the sun and use the pool do not go on Getaway. Worst pool at sea. I was on the celebrity Zenith 20 years ago and the pools were better. Good luck

The adult pool may not be the largest at sea but Getaway and sister ship, Breakaway, have the best water park at sea. Their free fall water slide is awesome for a cruise ship. So much fun......
