S&s cards and kids

How old do the kids need to be to actually need to carry their own cards? Mine are 4 and 6 so they won't ever really be without an adult and I assume once I sign them in to the kids area they won't need them there? Thanks!

Pretty much up to your discretion, without the card they can't charge anything or get into your cabin so if they don't need to do those things you can hold onto them. I don't believe that they actually need them in the kids area.

I always let mine wear it around his neck on a lanyard. The casino would punch a hole in it and always gave me a lanyard until the last cruise in March. They would punch the hole, but they didn't want to give me a lanyard, since it says Carnival Players Club on it. First time I've ever had problems in the 16 cruises with carnival or RCCL. Luckily, I had another lanyard in the room and he used it.

I used to buy my kids really cool lanyards when they were younger so they would want to wear the S&S card. Football team, Disney, Barbie, whatever they were into. Now they are 24,18 and 16 so it's not cool to wear it around their neck.

At 4 and 6...they will not be roaming alone. YOU carry their cards...they have no need to. You will need their cards to take them off the ship in ports. There is NO REASON for kids that age to be responsible for their cards. YOU are the responsible one...for your kids, and their S&S cards!

My main concern was if they need them for ID purposes in the kid area or if they go with the camp staff to anywhere else on the ship. I definitely would not let them keep them otherwise!

I'm 60 and do not think they are cool, would never wear one.

After the first two cruises, I started letting my kids carry their own. To each his or her own regarding the coolness of the lanyard. Could give a rip about that. It's easier for all of us to keep up with around our necks, and they know not to take them off unless they are in the cabin. Individual choice as a parent. No right or wrong answer.

We cruised on the Fascination on November 21 and our cards were already hole punched. My husband and I each wore a lanyard with our S&S card on it and I also had my five year old daughters on mine. She did not need it except to get off and on the boat, in which I just handed them my lanyard with both cards. It was never a problem. In Camp Carnival they will provide them a name tag to wear - S&S is not needed.

Thanks! So excited to take the kids on their first cruise. Just hope they don't get sea sick like I do with out meds!

Not to hijack but GS gets seasick. Ginger capsules work wonders for him. Just a thought.

Do your kiddos get car sick? That will be a clue to whether or not they may get seasick. It is always better to be prepared!

I don't know what it is, but DS never gets carsick except when we first disembark and are on the way home. We found that out the hard way, unfortunately. He never gets seasick either..from what we've seen. IDK what it is about switching from the boat to dry land that makes him nauseated.
