ar1950 Posted January 7, 2016 #51 Share Posted January 7, 2016 ................ Yep, and these 2009/2012 CC articles help explain Royal Caribbean's position on storing the Oasis and Allure life jackets at muster stations: ........................ Interesting. So if you are on a Princess ship you had best realize that in a real emergency situation you need to get your life vest and forget about the RCCL instructions. Otherwise I guess that you may be in for a long period of treading water. :D
Pmorton3360 Posted January 7, 2016 #52 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Interesting. I didn't realize that was why. Doing Harmony next fall and have been reading a lot of posts. It will be my first Royal cruise. Mostly a Princess fan.
mike the canuck Posted January 7, 2016 Author #53 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Fantastic! Looking forward to seeing more. Thanks! I'm working on the next one. Trying to get it out ASAP. Hopefully next week. Princess does make you bring the life jacket and put them on, and its true RCCL does not. But Princess has you muster in the lounges and theatres where most people can sit down, instead of lined up for an extended time standing out in the heat by the lifeboats. For those with bad knees like my wife, that can be awful. I did like the glass doors in the showers, and their was more open floor space in our room on Liberty of the Seas on RCCL, but there is alot more storage space for your things and luggage on Regal Princess. Pretty much there are plusses and minues for each line. I figure, if I'm on a cruise ship, on vacation, it beats being at home and at work any day. :) Great video --- will be onboard Regal this coming Sunday. We were on her last March --- but its nice to see other people's perspectives. BTW, we have begun bringing an old keycard, or any card with a mag stripe like an old fully used gift card with us to use in the light switch so that we don't have to worry about whose key to stick in, and swap it out when one of us decides to go out on our own. A TIP for anyone that has not been on a ship that has that "feature" Thank you. Hope you have a great trip. We did end up using an old card that I had in my wallet for lights. That's a good tip
mike the canuck Posted January 7, 2016 Author #54 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Subscribed. We got off the boat the day you boarded. We had a great time. We are doing our first B2B this December on the Regal as well. Haha. That's pretty funny. Glad you had a good time. Hope you have a great time on your B2B. That sounds freakin' awesome! Thanks for the great video, please hurry we're all ready to see the rest!(How many others here saw the "Wet Varnish" sign on the balcony door and were thinking "Ohhh! Watch it! Watch out! Don't touch the railing!" when you guys stepped out there the first time LOL) Yep, and these 2009/2012 CC articles help explain Royal Caribbean's position on storing the Oasis and Allure life jackets at muster stations: 2009: In a recent blog entry, Royal Caribbean Chairman and CEO Richard Fain revealed that when Oasis of the Seas debuts this winter, life jackets will be stowed solely at muster stations rather than in passenger staterooms. <and> The vests-in-cabins plan could simply be a holdover from the days when ships were smaller and deck areas couldn't accommodate the jackets. Fain writes, "We have the space ... the advantages are so overwhelming that you have to wonder why we haven't done this before. The only answer we have come up with is that we never looked at this process as carefully before Oasis. http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=3343 2012: "On some ships, including Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, life jackets are kept at the muster stations rather than in individual cabins; ship safety officials made the switch for a couple reasons. One was that in a real emergency, forcing thousands of passengers back to their cabins to grab their life vests would work against an evacuation. Another had to do with dangerous dangling belts. "'Slips, trips and falls' during the drills was one of the most cited reasons cruise lines gave us for the change," said Brad Schoenwald, Senior Marine Inspector for the U.S. Coast Guard's Cruise Ship National Center of Expertise. "Passengers would slip on a belt strap on the way down the stairs, and you'd potentially have an injury." http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=4719 Haha. I'm working as fast as I can on the rest. The rail was a little sticky from the varnish but it wasn't too bad. lol

Can you tell me if they have Sprite Zero on board and do you know what drinks were offered at happy hour? Thank you! New video will be up soon. Hope you have a great cruise in April. Not sure what kinds of soda they had on board since it cost extra. I just drank juice all week. Not sure what drinks they had for happy hour. I know they did have a "Buy 1 get 1 for $1" deal. Rare CanadianBurger Posted January 17, 2016 #69 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Was the food from the carts free? We have been to Princess Cays 3 times and have never seen them before. Yes, all the food on Princess Cays is free, including the carts. If you have the beverage package, drinks are also included. All the food comes over from the ship in the morning before the passengers, so it's actually ship food and crew. Steve.
