OBC from RCI

Someone said OBCs from Royal Caribbean cannot be used for gratuities. I usually call in a credit card for enough OBCs to cover them, but have enough from Royal to do that. I would much rather have gratuities covered and then spend the rest.

I have used OBC from RCI for automatic gratuities. The daily deductions simply came off the total credit each day.

OBC can be used for anything spent onboard including gratuities.

Just make sure you don't select "Prepaid Gratuities" when you book. If you do that the amount is due with final payment and you can't use OBC on them.

 

If you just let the daily automatic gratuities hit your onboard account you can use the OBC on them.

I believe someone is mixing up cruise lines - NCL does not allow non refundable OBC to be used for service charge.

Thank you all for your help. I don't want to wind up having to buy $300 worth of jewelry because we can't use it for our onboard expenses. Or maybe I just won't tell DH that we can use it for gratuities.

You simply can't spend OBC before you're ONBOARD! Anything you buy in advance, you pay for in advance...so keep your pre-boarding purchases to a minimum.
