Celebrity Cruises

Pros are a great captain and crew. Everyone on board works as a team to resolve any issues that might arise. The M class ships are a bit older but cabins have been redone and are quite nice. Buffet is wonderful - love the sushi. Like the slightly smaller size.

Cons - The website is awful. Veranda cabins are smaller than the higher Concierge and AQ cabins. Does not have lots of whistles and bells. No climbing wall or zip line on board. Luminae and Select dining have made the MDR a bit tight feeling.

We have made some 10 cruises on M class ships and the same on others. M class is a great basic cruise ship. Not flashy, but provides a very very good experience for the money.

Hello,

Anyone have any pros or cons of the Celebrity Cruise line, specifically the Summit?

While we haven't sailed on the Summit, we've sailed on her sister ship, the Infinity, a number of times. These cruises have always been my absolute favorite.

Celebrity is our cruise line that we prefer above all others (within the same price range), although do sail more often on Princess as they sail out of San Francisco. You will probably find less kids as I think they offer a little more white glove service than their parent company, RCCL.

Hello,

Anyone have any pros or cons of the Celebrity Cruise line, specifically the Summit?

We did a B2B Cruise on the Summit March/April 2014. Great itineraries. Even though we've been to all the ports before we always find something new to see or do. We enjoyed the ship and her Crew. The only bummer was we had to get off after the second leg.

Love the Summit and its crew. Going for the 3rd time in 2 years this summer.

A great ship for relaxing and enjoying just cruising - no real bells and whistles to get in the way.

I've sailed in a mid- ship veranda and aqua class, doing midship veranda again to Bermuda this summer.

I didn't think the food in Blu was that great 2 summers ago and the MDR food was fine this past October but nothing to write home about.

I think the specialty restaurant quisine is delicious and so is the pizza at the buffet! I actually thought some of the buffet food was better than the MDR- the Asian stir fry station was really good at dinner time and the pool side grill burgers and fries always hit the spot!

Go and enjoy!

To us "No climbing wall or zip line on board" are Pros, not Cons. :)

Agree about the awful website though.

We find the Summit to be a very comfortable, relaxing ship of ideal size, easy to get around, with wonderful, caring staff and crew.

It has a great thallasotherapy pool and panoramic observation lounge (although they spoiled it somewhat a few years ago by blocking off one side).

The cabins are well designed, with convenient, usable storage.

The interior of the ship is entirely non-smoking, as are all the balconies.

You don't need to get to the theater a half-hour early to get a good seat.

As for the food, you just need to work your way around the ship to try out the various food venues and decide for yourself. We always find things we like to eat wherever we go on the ship.

If you book aqua class, you get to dine in a special restaurant called Blu, and if you book any suite at all, you also get a special, even nicer restaurant called Luminae.

There are 2 penthouse suites on the back of deck 6 that are spectacular, for those who can afford them or even those who want to book one anyway as a special splurge.

It is an older ship, currently showing some signs of wear, but scheduled to go into drydock soon for a facelift.

If you are looking for a newer, flashier, larger more modern ship with a lot of pizzazz and high energy vibe, then you may be happier on one of Celebrity's S-class ships instead.

(Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox, Silhouette, Reflection).

If you want more of an active, amusement park vibe with climbing walls, zip lines, water slides, flowrider, ice skating rink, and such, then you may prefer a larger ship from the fleet of Celebrity's sister cruise line, Royal Caribbean.

Don't know about the M class ships but we have been Concierge, Aqua and regular cabins on the S Class ships and they are all the same size. The cabins are the same but if you are on the "hump" the balconies are larger.

Yes, on the M Class, Concierge and I believe Aqua are larger than standard cabins. You are correct that on S Class they are the same size.

The cabins are the same but if you are on the "hump" the balconies are larger.

The balconies on the hump itself are no larger. The angle balconies leading to and from the hump are larger than standard balconies. The first and 3rd balconies from the hump are the largest, the 2nd and 4th from the hump are slightly smaller, but still larger than standard.

See post 906 in this thread for some pictures:

Note that this balcony discussion applies to S Class ships.
