Casino rate vs. regular rate

I like to gamble and do so sparingly on a cruise, but I frequent table games in Vegas or other casino cities. On my recent cruise I spent about the same amount of time (and $) in the casino as I normally do.

I just noticed I had a "casino rate" under my VIFP section, so decided to check out a cruise I was thinking about doing. After running through it logged in as me and then again, anonymously, the cruise total differential was a whopping $82...

So I beg to ask the question. Does Carnival think this works? As a regular cruiser and a regular cruiser of Carnival, do they really expect me to think that is such a great discount and that I will book right away...?

I guess my main complaint is that Carnival really doesn't care about saving their return customers money because they know if you want to take a "budget" cruise with them, they are still cheaper than most other lines...

Are you taking in to consideration the Casino Cash you are getting too?

I just looked at a Premier Cruise that I just got a couple of days ago, and like, you did the 2 separate log in mock bookings. It was only $62 difference in the booking, but figure in the $300 casino cash (fine print, might be cash or OBC) and that makes the cruise I was looking at a pretty good deal.

I was looking at a 6 day cruise, interior cabin for 2, Early December for $1062 less $300 Credit. Not bad for a 6 day cruise for lees than $800, taxes & fees included.

Casino rates are different depending on how much you gamble. I used mine on this upcoming cruise and it gave me 150$ off a June cruise, which is pretty nice as those usually don't get as good of deals. But I went on a cruise with my mom in April and we paid 75$ each for a 7 day cruise due to her casino deal. So yes they work for the people who get the better rates.

I have received three free cruises (port charges only) over the past two years, two insides and one balcony and have another offer but won't be able to squeeze it in. Granted I spend more time in the casino than the average player, but Carnival offers are awesome and they comp plenty during the trip - steakhouse, excursions, free drinks.

Let me get this straight. You don't gamble on Carnival cruises much, but you expect to get a good casino rate on Carnival cruises?

That makes sense.

Along that line of thinking, I should be getting a huge buffet rate cruise offer..:D

Can you tell us more about your casino habits while onboard? Slots/tables? How much per bet......

I'm curious because you get more than I ever get.

The various casino perks (and how they are earned) has been debated many, many times. Search for any of the Premier threads. No one really knows anything except you get the DOU card at so many slot points. All the rest is speculation (even if someone affiliated with the casino told you).

The "regular" casino rate is simply a discounted rate. Nothing more. But since I detest ES (because I detest restricted fares), I booked one once and saved a little on my fare.

After that, I started receiving Premier offers. I just booked my 4th Premier. I "only" get a discounted fare and $300 cash (and the other goodies). I'm not going to complain because I absolutely am not a big spender in the casino.

Have never received a bounce-back or pack-and-play offer. Oh well. I'll take what they offer. Not going to bankrupt myself to get a "free" cruise. ;)

Yes, that where they show up. I've had trouble lately getting to them (used to just click on the "today's deals" in small, red print at the top, but now that just takes me to the calendar, which doesn't seem to show those offers. Now I go to the VIFP section, log in, then select My Offers.

Well I pretty much spend most of sea days in the casino and going back and forth between the pool and casino. I'm usually in the casino late at night and on occasion there until closing. But that's just me. I play mostly blackjack and play green and in some sessions play with black. Obviously it's hard to sustain a bankroll at blackjack tables if you're not playing correctly, and winning sessions can easily turn south in a hurry so I sometimes play poker slots, regular poker, and blackjack slots (on certain ships) to minimize variance at the tables. Oh, and I tip very generously.

The casino rate cruises we have taken are basically free with onboard credit to boot. We took one in January and doing another one in July. Also have a premier casino cruise invitation right now, but not sure if we'll take it. Have a month long driving trip coming up in a couple of months. I receive them quite often, so may wait.

Thanks for the info NCTribeFan. We are taking a Bounce Back" offer in September, so I guess I won't get any other casino offers until after that trip. However, hope springs eternal so i will keep checking "just in case!"

My past 8 Carnival cruises have been free or $100 with $100 onboard credit. They have been Casino comps. However the onboard perks vary depending on the casino host, sometimes I have spent very little and gotten bottles of wine every night free steakhouse and other goodies, However on one I got 4500 points on a 5 day and actually got cursed out by the Casino Host, and got nothing had to call casino services in Miami when in port to get my DOU card.

Sometimes they just don't like you for some reason.

For the 3rd year we are using the casino rate, it's been the lowest for us. In addition to the lower rate we also get $50 from the casino.

We book Early Saver so that we can take whatever the best offer to comes along. Has worked out to be the Casino rate 3 years in a row now for us
