What do you do on sea days?

Our last three cruises were the Hawaiian ones with a ton of sea days. With the many activities listed in the Patter, often the hardest thing is to choose among the ones at the same time that sound like a lot of fun.

There's a Hawaiian cultural program on the Hawaii cruises so maybe there's something similar on yours.

We're taking our first TA next spring, and are eagerly looking forward to a solid week of sea days, with a few extra thrown in in the following week...Since we're new to this, we were wondering how you seasoned cruisers spend all those sea days...how you keep from getting bored, or how you maximize the relaxation benefit!

Looking forward to hearing your experiences!

We like sea days. The only reason we look forward to port days is having the ship to enjoy all by ourselves.

If you like to sing, whether you are very good or not, each Princess cruise I have been on has a Princess Chorus. Practice is every sea day. There are printed lyrics and a cruise activity person directing. I have met some wonderful folks doing this. The highlight is performing in the atrium. Maybe all the passers by didn't enjoy it, but I sure did!

I got involved in a cruise long trivia tournament on our Panama Canal cruise. I got very competitive. We came in second but had a blast. I also played a silly game show which for me was really outside of my normally introverted comfort zone.

I also bought an Acupuncture package. I didn't discover the thermal suite until my last day. I spent the whole 2 weeks with a migraine and went into the hospital after we got home. I told DH I need a 'do-over'!

I shall rise early, get a coffee drink, amble on to breakfast, then go do some cardio and a little bit of weights in the fitness center. Next I will mosey around the Promenade deck find a deck chair or lounger and relax while watching the ocean, the swells, flying fish and other ships . I never tire of this.

Then I may lay near the pool next to the railing, have a beer or some Vino, maybe munch some lunch, read a book, more walking, attend any interesting speakers, pub lunch if available, more cardio in the gym or laps around the deck. Dinner and MUTS, casino?:)

We worried about having 'enough to do' our 1st TA too. Now, the many sea days in a row are what we look forward to most.

The three we have been on had lots to do if you wanted to be busy, I'd say more than on regular cruises. For us, though, we really got into just relaxing. We got up later and later each day (almost missed breakfast a couple of times!) did our regular walking routine, spent time on deck if warm enough, went to some lectures, watched some movies, read, napped, etc.

I thought the entertainment at night was really good as well; guest entertainers especially.

We got so relaxed that we were almost disappointed when we got to a port and 'had' to get off the ship. But we were glad we did.

This post is over a year old so the OP has long ago done their cruise, but we feel pretty much the same as others posting here. On a trans-Atlantic due to the timing and length there will be very few children. Makes relaxing a bit easier.
