I have to keep myself far away because I have that urge. Also, I’m interested in this discussion because the whole spinning 4 wheel aspect was stressing me out. I am currently practicing with suitcases in my basement. I have pre check and I’m doing curbside check in.

The are mostly uglyass. When my brother got married they asked my daughter to be a flower girl, then also asked me to be a bridesmaid. I didn’t think quickly enough to say no!

I totally agree. We have ill family members so our Thanksgiving cruise even happening was up in the air. As a consequence of not booking our hotel until the last minute, we weren’t not able to plan meals and ended up at the very expensive, very crowded hotel buffet. An extra day would have been welcome. For international in the future I will plan on three days at least.

Is it easy to spot first time cruisers ?
KBS1607 replied to Crestawave's topic in First Time Cruisers
My husband and I spent our whole Thanksgiving cruise looking dazed and confused. First time on an Oasis class ship and first cruise since lockdown. We have had a few friends that cruised and did not get the bug. -
It is not just kids. Maybe kids at heart. My husband of 40 years loved this on our Baltic cruise in 2019. He would be at the ship’s currency exchange (I know not the best place) getting each country’s currency.

@Mum2Mercury ugh the myth of the ship waiting for their tours. If you like travel horror stories (I don’t but I’m married to someone who does), you can find stories of cruise lines leaving their tours.

First Time Cruisers In November (won a free trip!)
KBS1607 replied to mike4goa's topic in First Time Cruisers
Congratulations on your win. I hope you have a great time! -
In 2014 Princess had a great one it was expensive but we received a personalized note pad from the print shop, a really nice bathrobe and many pictures, including one with the Captain. I’m so glad we did it then. I don’t have the mobility for it anymore. I hope you enjoy your first cruise and find a great tour!

How do Princess and HAL compare to Celebrity, Royal and Carnival?
KBS1607 replied to Skippy's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
We saw all demographics on our Alaska cruise in 2018. Including people doing two excursions a day. I don’t have that kind of stamina. My husband had his first long bus trip ever so it was educational for him. He was still working then, so I was happy we took the two weeks to do the interior of Alaska also. -
Tips for cruising after a 20 year break.

I have to agree with this! -
Any ship you've been particularly impressed with?
KBS1607 replied to sjde's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Not to sound like Pollyanna but I’ve been impressed by every ship I’ve been on. I believe our first three cruises were on ships that were scuppered. Looking back Princess is still a favorite but we cruise based on itinerary. -
I honestly can’t wait for us to just refer to it as the normal, normal not the NEW normal. I started cruising in 1984 and change is inevitable.
-
@Ludus, I agree! I’d say the 12th of Never.

I appreciate this. It will be a while before we fly internationally again.

I’m glad to see this information. I had watched a cruise video from someone I like but she said the dress code made her very uncomfortable.

Unexpected benefit of cruising: My Condition Improved!
KBS1607 replied to JVes's topic in Disabled Cruise Travel
@JVes I remember you and you are an inspiration to me! I’m working on balance and I would love to get into my physical therapist's pool. However some issues are keeping me from that. I cruised November of 23 and had a lot of trouble. I’ve since been prescribed a brace and now we are working on balance with it. You are an inspiration. -
My daughter was 11 and we were flying home from France. My husband and I were as jumpy as drug mules then DD got up there. We could see laughing and talking and didn’t know what was up. Turns out he was asking if her Tweety Bird sweater was accurate. It said “small bird, big attitude”. I have opiates that I would be afraid to fly with to some countries. I fly in August and it’s my first time with pre check.

I hope you have a great time! That’s cool about the photo you had never seen.

We did a a family cruise of seven people in 2009. My father in law thought we would all travel in a big pod. Uh, no. My husband got stuck with his dad on an excursion and it was brutal. Meanwhile I had taken my daughter and her cousin on a lovely excursion in Aruba. Flash forward to 2019. My husband and I invited our daughter and her husband of one year on a Baltic cruise. I thought mayhem was going to be involved at some point; especially in one dinner in the steakhouse. Our recent Caribbean cruise with them was much better.

Different Crowds Sailing from Different Embarkation Ports?
KBS1607 replied to theotherchad's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
There were a lot of us. We were the only ones who lived far away. -
how Many People Started Cruising Before 1995
KBS1607 replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Holland America Line
That would be a great topic, too. Biggest drought of cruising minus the pandemic. Wanted to add our honeymoon The Big Red Boat…we were young, stupid AND completely cut off from the world. We arrived home: heard about the hurricane (October) AND a senior VP at our company had been arrested. Good times. -
I, too, noticed the ‘influencers’ on our most recent cruise. Or some sensible reason I saw so many false eyelashes at the beaches. I wish I had actually counted instead of just rolling my eyes. There was one guy who shared a picture of a lot of cash on his bed. That just seemed to be asking for trouble.
