We returned last weekend from a Royal Princess B2B. Our second week started in Civitavecchia and we stayed on board. For the morning and early afternoon the ship was pretty empty. It was great to be in the Retreat area having the pool and Jacuzzi to ourselves.

A Royal TA from Rome to FLL a few years ago was sold as both one and two cruises. We booked it as one cruise and were not required to do anything special in Barcelona where the first itinerary ended and the second one began.

If all your ports are in the Euro Zone, there should be no immigration or customs issues.

Thanks for replies that's good info thanks, its not alcohol we want in the day, just nice to be able to get a coffee or soda.

The International Cafe espresso bar will be open all day, except during muster drill. The Bar at the International Cafe is also open early in the morning for soda and other drinks. Coffee prepared from grounds as well as hot chocolate is also available all day in the Horizon Ct. area at no charge.

On a cruise that is sold as a 14 night, that is also 2x7 nights, on the Royal can you stay on board on the changeover day in Athens or do you have to get off and return later, also do any bars etc stay open.

You don't have to get off.

You will have to go through customs as a group. Sometimes it's onboard, and other times you get off, go through the line, and get right back on. The problem with this is that sometimes rude people don't report to the designated area on time, and it holds everyone up. Last year on the Royal British Isles/TA we sat in the theatre for 2 hours while a couple of passengers were paged over and over again for most of the 2 hours. We're on the Regal Baltic/TA next week, and this time we're taking a tour on turn around day.

That is not the process if you are in an EU port and the ship has arrived from another EU port.

It is the process in a mainland USA port on turnaround day.

We just got off the Royal last week and although we booked a 14 night cruise we were treated as though we had booked a back to back.

The advantage was that it added to our cruise credits but some things were rather a pain. For example we couldn't make reservations for speciality restaurants for our second week ....we had to wait until the first day of our 'second' cruise. We couldn't change any tours, reschedule or cancel any that were in the second week, until the start of the second week. Anyone with casino credits had to cash in on the last night of the 'first' cruise or they would have been lost.

None of the above were really awful but if, like me, you like to be organised at the start of your holiday so you can relax, it was a bit of a pain.

We did it that way in Southampton coming from LeHavre last September.
