What's a good short term cruise?

Fly into Tampa and hop on the Paradise. 5-days, ports are Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Wonderful ship for 4 or 5 day cruises. Plenty to do if you want, but not all the busyness of the new mega-ships. Wonderful places to read and relax, both outside and inside.

Awesome service from the crew and great food! And the port is easy-peasy in and out!

So happy to hear a good review of the Paradise. Reading recent reviews has been a little scary. I take reviews with a grain of salt - but almost every one - even those that were fairly positive overall, complained about terrible food.

I'm going with some family members for a 4 day in November - it's just a little get away for several nieces 40th birthdays. I normally want at least a 7 day, but am looking forward to this little celebration cruise.

I'm not really that into food so I wasn't that concerned, but a few of the family members really enjoy the whole dining experience in the MDR and I know they would be disappointed if the food was really that bad.

Did you ever eat in the Lido at night? There are times when I'd rather run up and grab something to eat rather than going to the dining room and was wondering about the choices.

What's a good deck on the Fantasy class, we were on deck 10 on the conquest, deck 2 for the Breeze, deck 7 on the Valor, booked on deck 12 for the Magic in a spa balcony and I think 5 or 7 for the Vista right in the Havana area, so what's better for the fantasy class I know mid ship but is there a better deck for this class?

We mostly at in the MDR, but one night we did eat in the Lido. It is good and the selection is varied. The last time I cruised on the Paradise, the maître`d was Yusef. We had him twice on the Paradise and once on the Legend. He manages the MDR quite well.

I see the reviews, too, and always scratch my head and wonder what people were expecting. The thing to remember when you are reading those - usually ONE thing happened that made the reviewer unhappy, so they discount the rest of the good things and pick the rest of the cruise apart.

You will enjoy it very much! Quick and easy port, too.

How far is the port from the airport

I assume we're talking about Tampa. Airport to the port is only 5 or at most, 6 miles. (Actually, I don't think it's even that far!)

When sailing "Paradise", or any "Fantasy Class" ships, I almost always book an inside cabin, and my favorite area is AFT "E" Deck, deck 7. It's right under the aft dining room, (NO NOISE ever heard from above), so one deck up to dinner. Promenade Deck is two decks up, and Lido only three decks up. Serenity deck only two decks up, and once again, very convenient. I just enjoy that area of the ship.

Do you know what the temperature is to either Cozumel Key West or to HMC in Oct

Well, that's very difficult to predict, especially since it's FALL, and that time of the year, especially in those areas are unpredictable. In any case, you can bet that it'll be lots warmer at any of those ports, than it is in Ontario. If I had to give you an answer, I'd say that either of those three locations will see daytime temperatures in the 70's. Very nice indeed. ;)

I VOTE FOR PARADISE!!! Great ship, and port of Tampa is AWESOME! Super easy to get in and out of ... very close to the airport ... 10 min max unless you hit traffic. There's a walmart in between the airport and port if you want to stop there. Better yet, fly in the day before and enjoy the city of Tampa!

Paradise didn't have the 2.0 upgrades however, it was still an awesome ship ... pool was great, and the food was awesome - we ate dinner in MDR most nights ... we ate in the Lido later at night. Had to wait after midnight for pizza but that's cause it's made to order, and worth the wait to have it hot and fresh.

Go for the FIVE night cruise on the paradise as opposed to the 4 day. Trust me that extra day makes a HUGE difference.

I second Triumph out of New Orleans. Easy Southwest flight out of Buffalo and great destination. Do a 4 or 5 day on Triumph and then spend a few days in New Orleans. Perfect vacation. Easy cab ride from airport to port and really easy and friendly embarkation. Port is an easy walk to the French Quarter for great food, entertainment, casinos and hotels.

The Elation sails out of Jax for 4 & 5 day cruises. My friend just got off her last weekend, they had an amazing time! I picked her up from the port(I live a few miles away over the Georgia line) and it seems to be an easy port and she said it was a simple on and off.

I've been looking at a cruise on her next year and the pictures are very interesting, the decor is interesting and somewhat historical(in my opinion). And the port is the very next exit after the airport 😊
