Verizon gift card lost by UPS

Because no-one was home to sign for them our cards were sent to local UPS store. When I went to pick them up they had been signed in but could not be found...apparently the USPS accidently picked them up from the counter with the daily mail pick up. grr. Now I am told to wait to see if they come back around. I think I will purchase the smaller denominations that just come in the mail from now on.

Sorry to hear you had problems. I just ordered 2 $500 cards and they arrived on Friday. I knew I would not be home, so I left word out at the UPS depot that I would pick them up at their location. I have done this before and they kind of expect it from me anymore, but it works every time.

I can never get the order of the $100 cards in time before they sell out and hate taking a stack of cards on the cruise with me. I used them to fund our excursions, casino money, gratuities and any other cost for the cruise, so carrying a lot of extra plastic and downloading them is not a good option for me.

I would think since they were in UPS custody and you did NOT receive them that UPS is on the hook for 500 bucks. I pray it is worked out quickly for you. I'd not wait I would start a claim now. Notify Verizon as well. Not sure what you'll need for your claim but you don't want to lose out because you didn't file a claim in time.

UPS is on the hook for loosing them. Don't sit back and wait. Go to UPS and show them your pick up notice they left when the delivery was attempted. If they can't find your package' date=' ask to see the signature where you signed for it, they don't have that. Tell them if they can't track it down it's not your fault. If the USPS picked it up as a parcel they would have scanned it received. Picked up as mail it would have been in a bucket. I picked up from a UPS store for about 5 years as a USPS employee. Ask for a claim to be started immediately, who's to say an UPS employee wasn't familiar with what the package had it in. FYI Carnival will not replace stolen or lost gift cards. Not sure how Verizon handles lost or stolen cards. Hope it works out for you quickly.

Do I need to request a claim in person? I was at the store and they said if not received tomorrow they would help me file a claim.

If you don't receive it tomorrow I would definitely go in person. And remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease. (ATTENTION) especially if there's customers. Be firm. It's your money not theirs. [emoji4]

They have 9 months to file a claim, but if the package wasn't insured the max amount that will be given is $100. I work with UPS everyday at my job. It sucks but that's how it works even if UPS is at fault.

Verizon should deal with UPS or USPS....whomever. It was lost. You didn't get it. No fault of your own. Verizon should mail a new card. Over the years since I've been buying these cards from AARP and Verizon, I've had delivery issues twice. Once there was a fulfillment backup. I eventually got the cards 3 weeks later. The other was back in July. Never received a card ordered in May. Called Verizon and within a week they sent a new one. Done.

I would be sure to do everything in writing and keep good records--even if you present the claim in person, keep copies. I hope you placed the gift card order with a credit card so that your next step can be to dispute the charge on your credit card if you cannot get Verizon or UPS to resolve the issue.

Thank you! I just called Verizon and got the tickets going.

Yes it was by credit card. Thank you! That is a good idea.

Yay one of the cards arrived! I was able to get my cruse balance paid by the date using the one card....the other still out there somewhere.

YEAH!!!!! If one showed up the other should be close behind!!! So glad you were able to pay your cruise off. [emoji4] Oh' date=' if the USPS picked it up by mistake you should be able to go to UPS website and track the confirmation number in and see if it changed hands. UPS - USPS and then back. If you were curious.

That's great. Curious, did the Post Office return it to UPS for them to deliver, or did they just deliver it?

Good luck with the other one!

I had this happen a couple of years ago with Verizon, and since then I've only ordered Carnival gift cards through AARP.

I know it was UPS' fault, but I was NOT happy with how Verizon Rewards customer service handled it (or rather, didn't handle it).

I had ordered a $500 card to use for OBC, and the cruise was 2 weeks away. I had ordered from them prior to that and knew it should take anywhere from 7-10 days from order date to receive it by UPS.

I kept checking UPS tracking and noticed that the tracking said they had attempted to deliver it, but didn't leave it since a signature was required. I had been home all day and never heard a knock or a doorbell. Anyway, the next day I kept checking the status online, and it all of a sudden went to some strange message that I had never seen before...can't recall it exactly now...but what it meant was the package had been tampered with. Something like "envelope empty."

I called Verizon, and they kept giving me the run-around. They have to open a ticket. The supervisor is away. The ticket has been elevated. It should be any day now. I was so frustrated! They had my money from the credit card, and I had nothing, and it was now just a couple of days before we were leaving for the cruise. They told me that they had to make sure that the card wasn't "out there somewhere" before they would issue me a new one. I already knew they didn't have any more stock because I was stalking the website every day.

I finally told them I don't want the card...you didn't fulfill your obligation to get it to me, and I'm going to call and dispute the charge with my credit card company. It got ridiculous towards the end, and they finally, after more than a week, agreed to process my refund.

I ended up leaving for the cruise and having to check to make sure the refund was processed during my trip.

The whole thing didn't make sense to me since UPS was going to be on the hook. Verizon Rewards wasn't going to be out anything, but they were holding my money regardless.

I had called UPS, too, but they said the investigation had to be done before the claim would be filed and that Verizon was the one with the actual claim, not me. I asked my regular UPS guy, and he played it off--didn't remember--was off that day, whatever.

I know it's really the same people doing the fulfillment for both AARP and Verizon, but it's a matter of principle. Knock wood, I haven't had any more trouble and have ordered multiple cards at multiple times from AARP, some regular mail (value less than $500) and some $500 or more (first FedEx but lately has been UPS).

I called UPS to start a claim last Saturday, and they said to call Verizon as well while they start an investigation. I called Verizon on Sunday October 23 (3 days ago) and started the tickets with them. UPS called today to let me know about the one available package and that the other was not yet located. After I picked up the one package I got a call from Verizon confirming that only one had been there and Verizon is now going to reissue my missing gift card! I was very happy with the phone customer service people for both UPS and Verizon, their prompt follow ups and how they were so very helpful. Verizon said it could take up to 5 days to hear back and it was only 3 days. :)

It was at the UPS store but now I am wondering if that package was ever misplaced at all. They gave me one door notice but there were always 2 orders, 2 routing numbers...and the confirmation email for that package came a day later than the one that was lost.

Thanks for the reply. I was just curious how it ended up.
