Princess cays beach stop

Has anyone also stopped at Half Moon Cay ... How do the two compare?

 

Asked this question on HAL and Half Moon Cay came out on top. Interested to see other opinions.

 

We have been to Princess Cays many times ... Half Moon Cay will be on our next cruise itinerary .. Twice!

If you look over on the Private Islands board, you find some "surveys" that pretty consistently rank HMC as the "best" private island. They aren't particularly scientific, but there is tons of info on that board.

 

We have only been there 8 times.

The beach at HMC is nicer (no water shoes needed) but we missed having a beach bar VERY close to the water like Banana Beach Bar on Princess Cays.

After being at Half Moon Cay many times, we were very disappointed by Princess Cay when we finally got there (after 3 cancellations due to weather! :eek:).

 

I'm booking a private excursion when we return to Princess Cays in 2018 (if we get there!:rolleyes:).

Have checked out a couple of Youtube clips today ... looking forward to HMC and hoping the weather is good. There doesn't appear a great deal of difference at first glance .. both look a lot like paradise compared with the UK weather outside the window at the moment.

 

It will be interesting to see how the speciality restaurant on the beach (The Lobster Shack) operates although cant say we are a big fans of lobster. Perhaps there is more seafood on the menu as well.

 

We usually walk as far as the private day bungalows when we arrive at Princess Cays as it is always much quieter in that area but were sad to see they had removed the thatched tiki parasols on our last visit. Still plenty of shade from the picture postcard palm trees. Would you recommend doing the same on HMC to get to a quieter area. We don't plan on renting a bungalow/cabana for the day.

The Lobster Shack just opened Nov 11, so it is very new. There is a thread on the HAL about it.

I love Princess and Princess Cays but I agree that Half Moon Cay is the best cruise line beach. Snorkelling is better too.
