Most amazing thing Carnival crew have ever done for you?

I thought I'd start this thread to see if people would share the most over-the-top, amazing thing someone on the Carnival crew have ever done for you?

Here's mine:

Just sailed on the Elation from Dec 17 -22. My daughter brought her clear orthodontic retainers, but forgot the case. I had her wrap them in a washcloth. While we were getting ready for elegant night, I think we knocked the washcloth onto the floor. The washcloth got collected by our steward, Subandry, while he cleaned our room that evening. Uh oh. Retainers were gone. I asked him about it...but told him NOT to worry...that it was OUR fault, and I didn't think there was ANY way they would find them. The next morning...knock knock...they found them in the laundry. The ship's laundry, that processes how many items per day???? UNBELIEVABLE. More amazing to me than a needle in a haystack.

Anyone else have an above-and-beyond story to share?

We asked our steward if he had a wine bottle opener. He did and it had a Carnival logo on it. I open our wine and was going to give it back to him.

He politely declined , saying thank you for cruising Carnival . We now carry that opener each and every cruise.

One time that really stood out was when my then 83 year old, mother did her first cruise with the family. Mom suffers from dementia but with coaching and monitoring she does OK. She would not leave her stateroom unless one of the family was with her as she was fearful of getting lost. I left detailed written instructions so that she could order her morning coffee and Danish. (Even setting out a few dollars for a tip) One night she was cold and wanted another blanket. You guessed it, she call room service. Somehow the kind person on the other end of the line understood there was a sweet but not very worldly woman that needed a blanket. I had gone to check on her and she told me she ordered a blanket from room service. As I was explaining that it didn't work that way there was a knock at the door. I am not sure what department they were from but they had a blanket.

A waiter on the destiny helped me wheel my GF's wheel chair through the dining room every night in a five night cruise. I was not used to wheel chairs since this was a short term need. This guy's kindness was unforgettable,

We were in the main dining room and enjoying our meal with a table of 8. At dessert we all ordered different things but me and my daughter noticed that at another table they were having a smores pudding dessert. We just mentioned to each other "gosh we wished we had ordered that smores instead". We started eating our chosen dessert and the waiter came with two smores desserts! he must have heard us and made an extra order for us.!! It made us feel so special that he wanted us to be happy with our meal. It was all good but I tipped that waiter extra cause he really cared about us.

There was a thread similar to this before which I really enjoyed. On it I mentioned on the last evening of a cruise I fell and broke my arm. In all the stress of the next morning as we were disembarked by ambulance we missed picking up our cheque with our leftover money from our sail and sigh.

Our room steward took the time on a very busy day for them to track us down and deliver it to us. Obviously they weren't doing it for the tip as we had already left our room. This was a very kind gesture that will never be forgotten.

This is one of the nicest things I think I have ever read.

Once I left my tablet on a counter while I fixed my coffee in the buffet area. I completely forgot all about it. When I later realized I had misplaced it, I went to guest services hoping an honest person turned it in. An employee did. I left him a nice tip for his honesty.

My wife found a purse with several hundred dollars in it left by the Carnival hub station. We turned it into Guest services . We know the amount because the Guest service person counted it out in front of us . They took our name and room number . Never heard a word about it. I thought it was an honest jester GS did by counting the money out in front of us. Hope they got their purse back.

This didn't happen to me but I witnessed every night on the Sunshine. There was an elderly woman in a wheel chair that had fine motor skill issues. Every evening, the server brought her her dinner and then cut it into small pieces for her. He carried on a conversation with her while he cut her food. You could tell how much she enjoyed the conversation and how appreciative she was that he took care of her.

DH is diabetic and takes insulin. I had asked for a sharps container and when the steward delivered it first night, he also delivered the ice I'd asked for to keep his extra insulin pens cool. He was worried that putting the pens directly in with the ice would affect them, so about an hour later he knocked on the door- he'd gotten a small metal cigar box that would hold 4 insulin pens perfectly (DH takes 2 different kinds so we had 4) and it kept everything dry and secure! Each day morning and night there was fresh ice and the insulin box sitting nicely on top of a facecloth, so it would stay cool but not too cold (anyone who's taken refrigerated injections knows it's not fun if the meds are too cold!). He knew this because his son is diabetic and takes insulin as well.

That same steward also brought me 4-5 small spray bottles of the linen spray they give you in a spa cabin- I loved it and asked if it was available for sale. He checked and told me sorry it wasn't. Then the last night of the cruise, he left the bottles on the bed for me!

Needless to say we left some extra cash over and above the pre-paid gratuities for him!

When I read the title to this thread I wondered what people would post because I can honestly never remember any time that I feel a Carnival crew member went above and beyond for me, but this story is awesome, thanks for posting it.

We were on the Triumph out of New Orleans this year. We became friendly with one of the bartenders at the Atrium bar. Always tipping her a dollar or two per drink. We are not huge drinkers but usually went there to buy our drinks. At the end of our trip she sent two carnival robes to our room as a gift with a note thanking us. With them trying to save money and send a lot back homes to their families....this was one of the most heart felt gifts I have received!

Years ago my DH and I were bringing our then 6 and 8 year old on a cruise out of Tampa. They had no idea we were going and had been told we were going to see off our friends who were cruising on the Inspiration. When we pulled up to drop off the luggage, I was busy distracting them so they had no idea what my DH was doing outside of the car. I had forgotten to tell my DH not to drop off the Red duffle bag (holding all our electronics...video camera, regular camera etc..). I didn't even realize my mistake until we were onboard. When we had our luggage delivered to our cabin, I asked the cabin steward what to do about the missing bag. He said, wait here... 3 minutes later came back with my bag. How it ended up on our floor is amazing because I had no tag or identification on it. I tipped him generously! He was super the entire cruise. That was an awesome trip and keeping the cruise a secret was one of the hardest things I have ever done!

2 Years ago I received one of those calls that you never want to get while you are on vacation. We were in San Juan and I needed to get home as quickly as possible. I was on the Carnival Splendor. The pursers desk helped arrange a flight for me, escorted me through customs and even helped me pack my bags. A Carnival employee even took me to the airport and made sure to get me through security so I didn't miss my flight. I will be forever greatful for that crew!

On our most recent cruise, which was on Carnival Liberty in September, 2015, there were a few who we felt went above and beyond.

Our cabin steward, Kenrick, his assistant, I-Ketut, and their manager, Snezana, really went above and beyond. Not only was our service the best we've had, but they each made the time each day to visit with us. I even pulled a prank on them, stuffing towels in a pair of jeans and shoving it under the bed with a pair of tennis shoes to look as if "someone" was passed out under the bed. Before doing this, we could tell that they had a great sense of humor. They all said we "got them good" and said they'd get us back, which they did a few nights later.

This is what we left:

And they left us this:

100_1063-1.jpg

This "towel man" was kept for the duration of our cruise and moved to different spots by us, and then again by Kenrick, I-Ketut, AND Snezana. It was always fun going back to the cabin to find out where he'd be. At the end of the cruise, we gave them a little something extra (an added cash tip).

The second was one of our bar waiters named Erick. We love Carnival's souvenir cups and several of our friends have seen them. One of our friends wanted one of the coconut monkey cups, so we told her we'd pick one up for her. Midway through our cruise we asked Erick as he made his rounds one afternoon if he knew which day they'd have the coconut monkey souvenir cups and he informed us that they had not received a shipment of them for our cruise. He did have the blowfish cups that afternoon and I ordered one. Erick told us he would go and see if he could find a coconut monkey and we told him he didn't have to, but he did anyway. A few minutes later, he came back with one. So we got that one too. They usually do have the coconut monkeys, but we are guessing that four our cruise (same one, Liberty in September 2015), they did not get the shipment of the coconut monkeys in since our cruise was two weeks after Liberty's engine fire in St. Thomas that resulted in the cancellation fo the rest of that cruise and left the few the next few cruises in temporary "limbo". The engine issue was resolved so those sailings went on as scheduled, but we thought maybe shipment of certain items weren't ordered just in case. We really felt he went above and beyond and again, we added an extra tip for him as well.

The third was the evening of one of our formal nights. We had late seating in the MDR and while DH was getting ready, I took a walk along the outer decks of the ship to get some pictures when it was dark. A young crew member named Aden was out sweeping and doing some other cleaning on the outer decks, but took the time to stop and talk, asking how I was enjoying the cruise and asked if we'd been on other cruises. I told him I had and he wanted to know which ones and I was happy to tell him. I really enjoyed talking to him and also learning a little about him and his family, home, and ships he'd worked on. Aden is the same age as the sons of four of our good friends, so I was a little partial to him on that alone. :) When I told him our first cruise was on Festivale, his eyes got so big and he said that ship, and a few of the older ones no longer with Carnival, were "legendary".

I know these things are minor compared to some of the other responses, including the OP, but I know that staff has been cut back and I know that each and every one of the crew members are busy, have long days, and don't get that much time off. But they all took the extra time and to me, that ranks up there as going out of their way for their guests.

Wow. . .there have been so many employees that have gone above and beyond! But, I'm going to have to say that it was the lady that "checked us in" on our very first cruise. It 1999, our first cruise and we were sailing on the Celebration out of New Orleans. My wife at the time and I had a trying & stressful year with the kids so decided to splurge on a cruise. Our TA had told us to just ask for an upgrade when we got to the port and if any better cabins were available (we had book an inside) they would maybe help us out. So when I told the lady that checked us in what our TA had said, she just kind of looked at us and walked away to talk with another worker. She then came back with our keys (that was when they used the plastic cards with the holes in them) and told us to enjoy our cruise. As we boarded the ship we were directed to our cabin ( M-80 ) which was just off the lobby on the "main" deck. Imagine our surprise when we opened the door and saw it was an ocean view! :D This was days when there were very few balcony cabins. So having been upgraded to an ocean view was a big deal! We did hear later on during the cruise that the upgrade had caused some problems / confusion with on board staff. But it paid off because I am now at 15 or so cruises with Carnival. :)

Our son left his I Phone on the bed when we left the cabin to debark. The room steward found it and took it down to Guest Services. They froze his card so when he tried to sign off the ship the alarm sounded and he was instructed to report to GS. He got his phone back and then debarked.

I honestly don't recall the circumstances on how it happened, but I had written on JH's FB page about my Legend cruise which was celebrating my college graduation (in my 40's - finally got my BA) and that my son had always wanted a ship on a stick (autistic). When I got to my room I found a HUGE gift basket with champagne, fruit, nuts, etc., as well as the Ship on a Stick - GENUINE GOLD PAINTED PLASTIC (lol). I wasn't in the room, but JH called the room and spoke to my son to make sure it was received. Truly an incredible surprise.

I met the beverage manager in a lounge before sailaway and later found a bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge in my cabin which we shared that night. Actually this happened on NCL but I like to talk about it.

Now that put a tear in my eye !:D
