bphman Posted January 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2017 I have done it a few times with no problems. We fly into FLL often because we like Jet Blue and find the airport easy to maneuver. We arrange a car service to transport us and the ride is 45 minutes usually. I don't like Miami's airport. Now, of course this all depends on when the ship arrives in port and clears. If you self-debark, you should be off by 7:30. If the ship is late, you may have an issue but 99% of the time they arrive on time or earlier. Rare hcat Posted January 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Try self disembark, grab a taxi and timing should be fine..

Agree that most likely your only problem might be a late ship arrival, which is seldom. Have done this before using SAS Transportation, and there are other services. I'd prefer a little more time but indeed FLL airport is much easier to move through than MIA.
phelpsfamily5 Posted January 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2017 We have made it from the Miami port to FLL by 10 with no problem. We get a private car service and we also carry off our luggage . But I would think you could still make it as long as you don't get off to late. We are usually off the ship at 7:30 with priority departure. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

habsfan4ever Posted January 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2017 I find very few people talking about Uber, easy app to use. Looking at a rate calculator, FLL to Miami cruise terminal, Approximately $40 tip in one way. Clean new cars, drivers are good. Easy to order, gives you pick up time, no competing, or lining up for ride.
cruizinEllen Posted January 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2017 Just did this 2 weeks ago. Did not do self debarkation but we were still off the ship by 8:30 , took SAS to Ft. Lauderdale (only took 23 minutes to get there) and was in the terminal by 9:
Rika1 Posted January 22, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 22, 2017 We just did it this morning. We didn't even need to do self-debarkation - we were in a suite and they offload those bags first (but Group 1 and 2 luggage was also on the conveyors at 7:30 when we exited the ship). We waited less than 5 minutes for our Uber driver after clearing Customs/Immigration, and made it to FLL before 8:30, with tons of extra time for our 10:25 flight. Uber cost us $33 plus a tip. The tricky part would be if the ship arrived late or got held up in Customs, and I was worried about those things, but everything went smoothly. Going down, we planned to use SAS shuttle as others have mentioned ($15 each one way), but we had to change our arrival airport to Miami in the wake of the FLL airport shootings two weeks ago. habsfan4ever Posted January 24, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Can only comment on Uber in Las Vegas, standard Uber, was plenty for 2people, 2 Carry on, 2 checked luggage
griffy116 Posted January 24, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 24, 2017 Just did this Christmas week and used SAS. They were great and we could easily have made a noon flight. In fact, we're doing it again in June and have an 11:45 flight.

For a 12:05 international flight you probably need to be at FLL by about 10 - earlier is better. The ride from POM to FLL takes about an hour. Check the FLA departure board for many threads on this very topic : http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495 Shared shuttles are popular and run about $15 per person: SAS, QLS, MJS and Go Airport are suggested almost daily. Uber will get you from POM to FLL for about $40 - 3 plus bags, unless someone packs like my wife :o, should be okay in an UberX. Any more and you'll need UberXL A taxi from POM to FLL will run about $75+tip

We use Celebrity's Concierge Private Car Service costs $150.00 per couple. The girl in Concierge escorts you off the ship to the front of the line to the baggage area then to the front of the line at customs then she escorts you to a private care waiting for you curbside. Just ask at the Concierge desk on the ship. We are off the ship in the car in less than 15 minutes. No Stress great way to end a vacation.:D
