Congrats, yes i know about the Spa Haven suite with Balcony but someone else said Haven Spa Balcony those are two different things, i don't think there is such a thing as a Haven Spa Balcony....

They worded it different - same thing.

All cabins in The Haven are considered Suites.

Just got an email confirmation for our Bermuda cruise leaving next Friday. Went from an aft balcony to a family suite. We love the aft balconies but you cannot beat the "suite life". I think we paid about 700.00 more for both of us. I know it showed as a poor bid on their scale. I've been watching and knew they still had 5 unfilled family suites still available so I thought the chances were good.

We gave this upcoming cruise the motto of "book simple, live extravagantly" LOL My husband got a CAS offer, so we only had to pay the tax and the service charge for the drink package, AND we got a $150 OBC from NCL. So it ended up costing us less than $700 for the week with drinks in an inside cabin (we've always booked balconies). That being said, we had no problem setting a slightly-above-minimum bid for a balcony. Would be great if we got it, but we weren't bidding more than the OBC we had because we didn't care too much this time around. I didn't even know this upgrade system was a "thing" until like 3 days ago, so the possibility is nice!

On a side not, the bidding is NOT like Ebay. On Ebay you at least can see what is being bid, and you know exactly what you getting. With NCL's program, you know the category, but not the location. And most important, you do not know how many others have placed a bid, or how much.

Technically it's exactly like Ebay, except it's blind bidding. I'm bidding, you're bidding and my cruise friends are bidding and unlike Ebay, you can't see the bids placed and NCL will pick the highest bidder.

I'm so jealous. We sail in less than 20 days and nothing. I've been checking daily. I refuse to keep upping my bid, however. My bid is more than some of the bids I've read about. What will be will be.

Being that the Epic TA never sells out and goes on the deep discount rack for us late bookers, I'm delighted people are willing to pay to upgrade. 3 of us are waiting for the $399 sale that has come up on the last 3 TA;s. :) 5 of us got late deals on the cruise prior.

Probably not wise to post intentions prior to award but just FYI, this new system is set up to reward you with a much lower winning bid.

The inside and ov can't bid on a suite but can bid on the balconies. They pay extra for the balcony. The guy in the balcony and mini suite bid on the suites. Ncl can make more $ by giving them your room and then selling you the GV for much less. You can potentially get the GV for a poor bid as a result. This in theory makes everyone happy.

Interesting and helpful. I'm reading backwards though the 60+ posts trying to figure out how this works for suites. We're on POA Thanksgiving week in a 2bdr Family Suite and got our upgrade notice yesterday (only on the NCL site, no email). On and off there's been a 2 BDR Deluxe Family Suite and an Owners Suite available on the NCL site, although not the best choices in location. My upgrade options included both of these plus a Deluxe Owners Suite and Penthouse Suite (we don't want the latter). I'm trying to anticipate likelihood of getting any of these and how high I'd really need to bid. Minimum is $1000-$1500 (for 2 p) for most of these, POA is expensive.

So sounds like my minimum is higher than someone coming from a balcony to bid on a suite?

I still haven't clarified, why would a Deluxe Owners Suite and Penthouse Suite be available when they've all been booked for months? Do they put it out there in hopes someone will move up into a Deluxe Family Suite which sells for a slightly higher price?

I'm hoping there's enough shuffling that a different location opens up, or the Deluxe Owners which would be amazing. I realize that's a really long shot, and this is not a cheap upgrade. We'll be fine with what we reserved, but the other options are twice the size so even with less desirable baloncies I'd still love the upgrade.

Just read this after my post, sounds like you had minimums as well, are you planning on bidding higher? $1000 for 2 or $1000 each?

There is a minimum bid as part of the program, it shows a minimum and max for everyone.

The lowest of my options I think was $500 pp, and you pay for the first 2 people in the cabin, so a $1000 upgrade. Not posting what I'm bidding until much closer since there are only a few cabins likely to be available in the class I want, if any.

How high to bid? One dollar more than somebody else. And of course, nobody knows who is bidding on each cruise. I am sure some people get a steal, and others pay much higher. Nobody knows.

Different Minimums? With such piecemeal information, there is no way to tell. For example, our option to upgrade to the haven had a minimum of $200 when we first logged in. Now the minimum is at $1,000. I really doubt it matters at all where you are coming from. It is all based on how much MORE money NCL can get for each cabin.

Cabins Available, but Sold Out - The do this because someone could cancel, or move up themselves. That way they have a willing buyer on standby.

Trying to figure out how words like "exactly like", "except" and "unlike" all work together. LOL!
