Way to many posts and reading them all just confused me more

I have a decent amount of NON refundable OBC. Meaning it must be used in its entirety or i lose it. That won't be an issue.

Where can I Not use it? Casino? Paying pre paid tips?

Thanks all. Happy Easter/Passover

If you plan to cruise on NCL in the next 4 years, I highly recommend spending any excess OBC on Cruise Next Deposits. They can be used for your total deposit on your next cruise for everything except Haven suites. Haven suites can still use one but you have to make up the difference in the usual deposit with a CC or another form of payment. If you have $250 in OBC you can buy TWO $250 Cruise Next Deposits for no out of pocket money. If you have $500 in OBC, you could buy FOUR $250 Cruise Next Deposits for no additional out of pocket money. You usually can only use one Cruise Next Deposit on each stateroom booked but certain cruises booked at least 6 months in advance will allow you to use two on each stateroom. Watch NCL.com and/or here on CC to see what additional offer/s NCL may have on the use of the Cruise Next Deposits.

I did not know that you can use OBC for cruise next deposits. Double your OBC:p

Isn't there a way to get cash from the casino and "pay" for it using non-refundable OBC plus a small service charge? I vaguely recall reading this at some point. I've got $100 in non-refundable OBC and between the UBP and the SDP, I don't see how I'm going to use it up, so this info would be excellent to have!

Yes, you simply go to the casino cashdesk and ask for e.g. $100 cash. The service charge is 3%, so your account will be charged $103 so an excellent way to get the cash in your hand. We did this on the recent Jade transatlantic, for our excess OBC and have done so on many cruises. You can also use this to pay the gratuities, you simply go to guest services and pay the cash from the casino into your account.

Health warning....I do not gamble, so this is simple for me. We heard once of a passenger who did this, and ended up throwing it into the casino machines!;p

It still can't be used for the DSC - but that is about it.

How do I know if the OBC I'll have on my next cruise will be refundable or non-refundable? $100 is from a Latitudes special and the rest will be from my TA. Can any of it be used to pay my DSC?

The Latitudes special is non-refundable. The TA portion is refundable as it is a "gift" from your TA.

You can use the TA portion to cover a portion of your DSC.

Will NCL allow you to cancel and then refund prepaids such as water, UDP for third person, etc so that you can use OBCs for same while on board?
It should be possible, but I would call to cancel everything well before the cruise, at least 2 weeks, to be sure that the refund comes through before sailing. The last thing you want is to find yourself in a position after the cruise where you have to somehow prove that you didn't receive all these things on board.

Keep in mind that the dining packages cost $10 more on board vs. pre-paying, but if you really can't think of any other use for your OBC, it may still be worth it to purchase on board.

You can use it all for the DSC. The TA amount will be refundable and therefore applied. The Latitudes is non refundable, but you can cash out at casino (see post #10) and pay it into your account at guest services!;)
