Beagle's Wild Ride On The Pride!! (2017 Review w/Pics)

Recommended Posts

After brunch we went to look at our pictures. I couldn’t find most of ours. I only found our group picture from HMC. I snapped a picture from my cell and got caught. Oops sorry… then I did it again. DH ran away from me like I do not know this crazy criminal. I got yelled at again and decided to give up and go to the shops. I found nothing so now it was time to layout and soak up this last seaday. Except by that time, all of our pals were at the serenity bar so I didn’t get any sun. Oh well, eventually we made our way to try the sushi at 2pm. DH and I were still full from brunch but we forced it down. I got the California roll and he got the spicy tuna. The spicy tuna was much better. I love chopsticks. I don’t use them well, but it’s fun!

After that the gang was going to play bingo. I went into the room with them but just couldn’t stay indoors. I don’t know what these people were doing. It seemed like a dance class was ending before bingo started.

I wished DH good luck and I headed out to look around and take some random pictures.

I eventually made my way to a hammock.

The plan was that everyone was going to meet to go down Green Thunder after bingo but by 4:30 I still hadn’t seen anyone. I went to get a drink and this man said he really liked my tattoo. (it’s down my side) I thanked him and turned back to Katie the bartender and he said I really like it and rubbed my side. Whoa… that was crazy. I grabbed my beer and took off up the steps to deck 10.

I was hoping to find a friend so I could say “can you believe this?” But nobody was around. Finally, DH come out in his bathing suit ready for the slide and I tell him my exciting story. He said well he just told Katie he loved her eyes and she threatened to have security come take him away if he didn’t leave. So, I thought a stranger hit on me but my bubble was busted cause apparently, this was just a passenger that had one too many. Dang, when I retell this story to good buddies, I will do so when DH is not around and I will leave the last part out! I may even suggest the man was sober and very handsome... like a movie star. LOL

DH and another friend did go down the slide but by that time it was too late for me. Oh darn!!!

Check out the girl, now you see her in that contraption

Now you don’t.

Here’s my excellent camera skills at work catching DH’s foot. The only proof he has that he went down that green monster. Hehe…Oops

That night at dinner I had the Jambalaya and it was to die for. I absolutely loved it and it was my favorite dish of the whole cruise. I also had the carrot cake. DH tried the Frog Legs as did most people at our table.

The gang went to take sunset pictures and I went to change before heading to the Red Frog Pub for one last night with the Alterr band.

That place was so fun. It was getting late and one friend said he missed the shows all week and he was bound and determined to see the 80’s Pop to the Max show at 10pm.

I should have gone with him and his wife because I felt the same way but DH was ready for bed. Once we got to the cabin, I lasted 5 minutes and said I’m headed out for a snack. I returned with a cold beer and popcorn I grabbed from the Dive N movie. That also lasted 5 minutes and I went back out wandering. By then DH was sound asleep so he didn’t see me stroll in with a whole pizza just for me.

I couldn’t help myself. There will be no more late night drinks and no more late night pizza. At least never like this. I didn’t want to go to bed because I knew it was all over once I woke up. Next Up Debarkation and Final Thoughts.

Debarkation and Final Thoughts

I woke up so sad, doesn’t everyone on debarkation day? It’s an awful feeling, isn’t it?

I don’t pack one thing the night before because I can’t face reality so there is usually a lot to do in the morning. However, I had almost everything done when DH got out of the shower. We met the gang at 7:30 for breakfast. We were told to be out of our rooms by 9:15. We were also told where we should hang out and wait - deck 3. We stood around waiting for our floor to be called when a kind stranger said hey they are letting anyone off now. We had heard no such announcement so we took the elevator down to deck 2 and sure enough we strolled right off that boat in 5 minutes. No Lines! We were in our car at 9:50am. So, long Pride, I will miss you dearly.

Final thoughts…

I did see a sign of cut backs… The Bar Service!!! The bartenders were great but no matter what bar you went to there was only 1 bartender. That got old several times during the whole week. I think I’ve just been so spoiled in the past with such great bar service that I really noticed the difference.

The dining room wait staff were terrific and the food outstanding.

Here's a pic of Alfredo

I really loved the Pride and I do see why so many people enjoy the ship.

I’m that girl that always freezes and I was comfortable everywhere I went.

I fell in love with my room steward Made. I want to bring him home with me so that every night after work he can greet me, make a towel animal, and have the house cleaned with turn down service. HaHa!!! But seriously, I ran into Made at least twice a day the whole cruise and he was just the sweetest!

Regrets

Well I had a few. I took lots of pictures for my review, but I regret not getting many with me in there. What was the point of me losing all that weight if the only pictures I’m in are under water or standing in the back of the group. Darn!

I never did get a martini at the Alchemy Bar and that’s a shame because I studied the menu online for weeks.

I also regret not getting a dirty banana. I didn’t even see it listed until we were home and I was going through the papers I brought with me.

I wished that I had gotten to at least one show.

I missed the chocolate extravaganza again. I’ve only made it to 1 in all 5 cruises.

I hope you all enjoyed the review and I appreciate you reading along. I’d like to give a shout out to a few of my favorite reviewers: GA Pearl, Wrigley, Jamman54, Watermelonqueen99, and Mitsugirly. Thanks to great reviews like that, I was inspired to give it a try. Now I am addicted. I take more food porn pictures then I do of myself and DH.

Happy Cruising Everyone!

Thank u so much for your review. The Pride is our local ship so we'll be on her again this summer for the 4th time, love the Spirit class ship best.

BTW, what's a Dirty Banana and where do you get one?:D

Thanks so much for the Pride review! I appreciated it greatly and especially the regret section. I am still kicking myself for our first cruise last year and some of the things I did not do and did, lol. I was a newbie, so sue me. I tried to do too much, and not enough. But you live and learn and we have one in Sept on the Pride, so I am armed with all my new found knowledge. One thing I did, was not relax. Things I did not do was take more pics and catch more of the corny shows. My son did by himself and I deeply regret that., Peace out.

Beagle, a question: did they serve the peanut butter with the WCMC every night to everyone or was it a special request. Have never heard of it but what a BRILLIANT idea! I am surprised it took so long to come up with it! :confused:I sometimes order it with strawberry ice cream. Strawberry and chocolate just kind of GO TOGETHER, ya know? (y) OOOPS, now that I think of it, the peanut butter/WCMC was in another review. Did you happen to get it?

Here's a picture of where I found it listed. I'm so glad another poster provided a beautiful picture of the drink itself!

Nice review and glad you had a good time. I have a lot of great memories on the Pride, but she is really starting to look dated, even after the 2.0 updates. I doubt they'll ever do a complete overhaul and newer ships can't fit in Baltimore. For some reasons the prices lately for sailing out of Baltimore are incredibly high. It's obviously a profitable port for CCL. Maybe a total rehab of any Spirit class ship to sail from Baltimore may pay off.
