Trying to justify Cheers Program. Can someone post current prices of drinks w/tips

Recommended Posts

Is it 15 drinks per person or 15 drinks per stateroom? Also, do they still make you go to the bar to get the sticker on your S&S?

per person and you can get the sticker at the bar but if you dont have the sticker, you will still be ok because its in the system

Ok..just to add clarification in case some are still foggy. You get 15 alcoholic drinks per day. A day goes from 600 am to 559 am. You get unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, which include still and sparkling water, soda, juice, vitamin water, energy drinks, honest Tea iced tea, hot and cold espresso based coffees and milkshakes. You can get a bottle of water at the same time as an alcoholic drink, otherwise you need to wait 5 minutes. You can also get two drinks as long as you have 2 cards that are participating in the program. You need to purchase it for the entire cruise with the exceptions being those sailings that emanate from NY or Texas.

Beer tubes, buckets, pitchers and floaters are exempt. Any drink up to 50.00 is good. Have heard about a 20.00 glass of champagne at the Steakhouse as well as Grey Goose VX, Roca Patron tequila Pyrat Cask Rum that are all high end stuff available at certain bars. The best bang for you drink dollar is at the Alchemy Bar, where the mixologists make some wicked concoctions using high end ingredients.

I'm just going on the first one not getting it and if we get close to $800 in drinks then we will get it next time.

We did this same sort of thing - one a few without Cheers and we actually never really got to even near the limit to breakeven BUT then they switched the rules where they included all the other drinks, raised limits on per drink costs and added Alchemy to most ships. This in turn made us get it every time now.

So if I'm sailing out of Texas I can purchase it just for sea days?

Sorry I wasn't specific enough in my description. Because of stupid Texas laws and Carnival being different than other lines sailing out of NY, you can't get Cheers on day one if you're on a cruise emanating from either of those two states. You will be charged for six days on your seven night cruise, whether you buy the program on board for 54.95 or prepaid for 49.95 per day plus 15% tip.

Sorry to ask this question but i can't seem to find an answer. if you buy cheers it sates the 15% gratuity is included do the waiters get that tip or should you tip more? thank you

The 15% you prepaid for tips do go to the bartender staff. When I was at the Alchemy Bar, I would sit there, so I would tip the guy an extra $1 or $2 because he was so personable and created fun new drinks for me. At the other bars, if I was just stopping and grabbing one, I did not tip extra.

Cruising on the Fascination this summer with 6 ports and 1 sea day. I'm trying, but finding it hard, to justify the Cheers program with this itinerary. Plus, no Alchemy bar!

Instead, I think we might Cruise the Vineyards.

Bottled water to take off the ship into port and a coffee before you head out. A nice cold soda as soon as you reboard, take a drink to your stateroom, predinner drink, wine at dinner and a cocktail at the show/club/casino. The bottled water and coffees ate what sway the deal for me. Plus, you can ask for top shelf liquor store for your drinks at no extra charge. On NCL you can't even get a chocolate martini on the beverage program.

I was thinking of princess in addition to celebrity and NCL.
Have sailed on and enjoyed both included drinks packages on Celebrity and NCL multiple times. Did not know that Princess had an included drinks package available all of the time similar to those other two lines. Still need to sail on MSC Seaside, Carnival Horizon, NCL Bliss, Celebrity Edge and MSC Meraviglia before I possibly contemplate a Princess cruise.
