Celebrity Suite (CS) - asking for your thoughts and experiences!

We will be sailing on the Solstice to Alaska in a few months. This will be our first time in a suite, and we chose the CS.

What did you love about the suite? Was there something you asked from the butler that made your trip memorable?

There seems to a productive conversation thread on the RS, and I was hoping we could have the same for the CS as well!

I'll be interested to read responses to this. We, too, are booked in a Solstice CS for the 9/8 Alaska cruise. Our first in a CS but we've done Sky Suites for the past few cruises and really enjoy Celebrity's suite amenities, particularly Luminae and Michael's Club. I think the biggest difference will be the added space (separate bedroom/living room areas) and possibly the Shore-side Concierge. The separate bedroom will hopefully mean I won't disturb DW when I awake early to grab coffee and walk the decks. Not sure what we'll ask of the Shore-side Concierge, or whether it will make much difference, but it's a nice touch. Of course, there may be more and those experienced with CS accommodations can illuminate.

We sailed in a Celebrity suite on M-Class (Infinity) last year and we will have a CS on Solstice for Aus/NZ in March. It was a large suite with separate BR which we enjoyed. Other than that, you get the same perks as a sky suite but less than the PH or Royal suites. So you are really just paying for the extra space.

On M-class ships the CS includes a full dining table, which we used for breakfast every morning (delivered by the butler exactly as and when ordered). On S-class the table seems to be out on the veranda, which would be much less useful to us -- but we'll cope!

The S Class CSs are lovely suites and from my DWs point of view the extra bedrom is perfect as apparently I snore? The angled hump ones have the massive balcony (1615,1618, 1233 & 1110). This is a video walkthrough on the angled hump CS on Reflection but basicaly ther same as any S Class

. Check out the balcony

One thing people don't offten mention is the diffficult to quantify extra attention the staff pay the higher level suite guests. Addmitedly in an RS it is even more but we have found it is also there to an extent in the CSs. Don't forget to mention to the MCC about things like bridge tours and helipad sailaways if that sort of thing interests you. On our first ever cruise we were invited to both and I am certain it came down to the fact we were in a CS :o.

CS on S class does not have a dining table in the living area. It is pretty much occupied by the L shaped sofa, coffee table, and a large cushioned chair on the opposite end. It's a good sized room, but compared to HAL's Neptune suites or Seaborne's Penthouse suites which are comparable in size, the only real negative is the bathroom is quite small for a "suite". The other lines will usually have double sinks, separate tub/shower in this category. I believe the L shaped sofa takes up more of the space in living area which reduces the size the bathroom as other lines will have the bathroom run the full width of the cabin from the hallway. A CS cabin has a portion of that area allocated to a small walk-in-closet.

It's a great cabin with a good Bose sound system on both televisions. I wish the glass between the bedroom and living area was clear instead of being frosted so that you can see out to the balcony, but I would assume it adds more privacy if someone sails as a group of 3. In cabin dining is either going to be on the sofa using the coffee table or the table on the balcony.

Haven't asked for anything special from the butler or used the shoreside concierge so can't comment on that part.

Edit: Also the location of these cabins can't be beat on S class as they are all midship.

You have summarised well the benefit of the CS over the SS on the S class. If you and your partner have different sleep patterns or if there is a third adult or older child traveling with you the space can work well....

It is great that Celebrity has so many suite options....you can simply choose the room size/facilities/added extras that you value.

It does worry me sometimes that the title of suites PH/RS/CS are the same on M and S classes as the rooms are so different....Perks may be the same but rooms are very different.

We had a CS on Silhouette last March and have one booked for our Equinox cruise in Sept. We only book a CS if we can get one with the oversized balcony, on the hump. Other than that, SS are fine for us. As a previous poster said, all you really get is additional real estate. I do like the walk in closet and all the shelves in bedroom. The bathroom is small. I actually find the bathroom in a SS more user friendly.

You should get a call from the Shore Side Concierge. We wanted to get on the list for the Chef's Wine Dinner which sells out quickly. She relayed that info to the ship's Concierge who made sure we were included. Shore side will also ask about anything you might be celebrating. It is kind of redundant because that info is already on the reservation, but she will inform the ship's Concierge.

You should get escorted on the ship and taken directly to Michael's Club where you can hang out, with a beverage, until Luminae opens for lunch. You can also leave any carry on bags with the Concierge who will protect them until the suite is available.

On departure day, you can meet in Michael's where the Concierge will escort you off the ship and straight to an area where all the suite luggage is stored, then right on to Customs.

The reason I say "should" not "will" happen is because there are some inconsistencies. Some people get emails from Shore Side rather than a call. Some people don't get escorted on board.

We have been fortunate to sail in the Sky, Celebrity, and Royal Suites on the S Class ships, and in my opinion, the best part of the Celebrity Suite is the massive balcony on the "hump" cabins. The separate bedroom is nice, but cramped, with little room between the bed and walls. There is not much extra storage compared to the S1 back corner Sky Suites, and it is really in a weird layout around the bedroom. The bathroom is not up to suite standards, with only one sink. Certainly the Royal Suite has much more storage and living space than either the CS or SS.

I have always felt like I got the same service as the RS and PS, when sailing in the CS. The SS cabins on the back corner have such great indoor space, but the balconies are small and exposed. Comparatively, there is not much room to really hang out.

The hump CS cabins have decks that during good weather become second living spaces with tables and chairs, loungers, and good overhang to stay out of the elements. I am not sure the normal size CS balconies make the price hike worth it, unless you really want to be in the middle of the ship.

That being said, we are in a CS with the big balcony in late August on the Solstice, and can't wait.

All of these are great! Thanks so much! I have another question: Will the butler bring a snack like in AQ?

Your butler used to serve afternoon tea every day. They did away with that and now have it available in Michael's. I vaguely recall getting some late afternoon hors d'oeuvres, but it wasn't daily. Just ask.

We had a Celebrity Suite on a cruise to Alaska. Were cruising through the inside passage in the evening. Our butler at the last minute, planned a last minute dinner party for us, so we could stay on our balcony and have an amazing evening. Take care of the staff, and they will take care of you.

Thanks for the info and the video. Too funny I am told I allegedly snore as well and the was one of the perks of getting this suite!

Strangely, one of the obscure reasons we like Celebrity is that, provided you are aware of the differences between ship classes, you know exactly what you are getting in a CS/RS/PH on Celebrity. Some lines we investigated do/did not provided floor plans and/or there is a considerable difference in layout between suites in the same category and you cannot find a definitive understanding of what you will be booking. (Disclaimer: It is a few years since we last bothered to check and things may have improved but, after a number of years, we have given up checking.)

We stayed in celebrity suite 1618 on Silhouette a few years back, I particularly loved the angled balcony, and the huge sunlounger/bed, it was just amazing to sit out on, and admire the views. We got fantastic service from our butler, and even set up dinner on the balcony one evening, which was wonderful. They will bring afternoon tea and sandwiches etc if you wish, but we declined, too much food! Am sure you will love it. The only negative I can think of is that there was no seperate shower, just a shower in the bathtub.

We have stayed in one of those angled balcony CS's on 3 different ships and will be again on Eclipse next year.

We love the CS and all that it offers. The separate bedroom, 2 entrances to the bathroom, walk in closet are all wonderful. The balcony is amazing(especially the angled ones)

We have received wonderful service on each ship and do not see how it could have been better even if in a "higher" level suite.

I am sure you will love it!!!!:D

I was on board when they made the change from the butler cart to serving the food in Michael's. My butler said that I could still have things delivered to the suite if I wished. If he was on duty in Michael's, he arranged for another butler to bring something. So just communicate your wishes to your butler.

I could have upgraded for free from my corner S! aft to a CS for a TA, but I prefer an S1 corner aft over a CS. Too enclosed in the bathroom and bedroom do to door and no window; however, it is close to the elevators if you don't want to walk. It was a good decision, as this sweet little couple were able to get it and were as happy as could be! it doesn't really matter if we like it or not. All that matters is that you like it! Enjoy!!!

Now on the Edge Class it looks wonderful to me! Still I chose the same S1 corner aft, but the layout and balcony will be interesting to see and compare.

The Edge to me definitely improves on the bathroom situation but then it reduces the balcony size. I think Celebrity rooms are a tad tinier than the industry average so something has to be given up..
On the CS, but larger on the S1 corner afts...correct?

We are in CS 1618 on Equinox Sept. 25th. I'm disappointed in the size of the bathroom but excited to give it a try. We had a S suite on HAL Zuiderdam years ago and it was the best cabin we have ever had. The bathroom was huge and the 2 showers were nice for getting ready. We usually book inside cabins so that we can go on more cruises but decided to splurge for some extra points this time.
