Yes agreed but not mistake in this case - its actually spelt like that unlike Pensacola in FL.

Peniscola, is a municipality in the province of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain.

Having been to Peniscola, I can report it's rather beautiful and well worth a visit. However, this is no day trip on a cruise stop from Barcelona - by car or train, if you want time to enjoy the sights. Perhaps someone needs to take another look at the map for any other uniquely named tourist stops a lots closer to Barcelona. I'd recommend Tarragona.

Peniscola is a very beautiful place (before anyone asks there is NO light or diet version available). Nearest port and easiest to travel from would be Valencia.

 

Peniscola was used as a film locaion for El Cid.

When I 1st saw Peniscola title I thought because of recent Eastern Caribbean Island port closings that Celebirity is adding Pensacola, Florida as a new itinerary stop :)

I have done the trip by car, but it is about 240 km from Barcelona. It was a long day's trip but we wanted to visit as it is a family castle (well it was a family castle). It was the home of Benedict XIII also known as "Papa Luna". It is worth seeing, but not a quick trip from Barcelona.

Even funnier, if you at Tripadvisor, the last post said the biggest problem with Peniscola was that everything was closed.
