LITERALLY TERRIFIED of MSC DIVINA

I enjoyed watching the videos of the Divina and I love those bloggers - they are great and make the videos interesting. We cruised on the Divina February 2017 which I believe was AFTER that video was done. They complained about the pillows, but when we cruised last February the pillows were awesome which makes me think the pillow issue was resolved since the video was taken.

We enjoyed every aspect of our Divina cruise and we were not in YC. Of course there were a few rude people but that happens on every line. We had great service, delicious food (in our opinion), good entertainment and the casino was "friendly" to us.

Looking forward to sailing on the Seaside.

OMG! Multiple languages?!?!? How terrifying! :loudcry:

;)

In seriousness, I strongly suspect that you are describing a more European approach to service rather than the typical American approach. It's not bad (and neither is the American way), it's just different.

LOl its so easy to terrify Americans just speak different language)))

Don't be terrified. I just got off Divina and loved it. I gave it a 8 out of 10. No issue s at all. I only ranked it 8 because I need a little more activities during the day other than dance lessons and language lessons. Some more games and game shows and even comedians at night would have made it a 10. Also they had a lot more classical and opera than I was accustomed but it was a refreshing change from Carnival and NCL. Food much better than the other two. Drink packages were perfect. We had a blast. I plan to do Seaside maybe next year.

Took a chance and booked the Divina 3 years ago....it was wonderful! I saw the negative reviews at that time, but read as much as I could and figured out all I needed to know. True, it is "different" in that it caters to a more European clientele, but we rather enjoyed it. Very clean ship, very professional staff. Food is always subjective, but we found it to be quite good and had no issues. Main shows were exceptional! We just sailed Celebrity in September, and booked another Celebrity cruise in November 2018, however we are definitely following the MSC Seaside, and would not hesitate to sail on Divina again!

Bottom line....no need to be terrified. Take advantage of the opportunity to be immersed in many different cultures and languages all at once....:)

If this were true, then there would be millions of terrified Americans in NYC, LA, Miami, along the Mexico border in various states and in many different ethnic neighborhoods in Chicago, Houston and Philadelphia.

Hi all,

I have booked in a suite on the Divina on 12/16 however after reading more reviews I am LITERALLY TERRIFIED of the experience we will receive. I almost booked a Celebrity Concierge Suite on Celebrity but changed last minute because of the suite.

I'm not so picky about food but hearing that the ship is a cluster of people and the bad service are really turning me off.

I also called MSC to inquire about upgrading and got the WORST customer service agent in the world. I was FINALLY routed to a manager (the first agent out right refused to let me talk to a manager until I got really angry) and she is trying to help get us into the Yacht Club but other than that, I am honestly thinking about throwing away this money and booking something else.

As the manager said, "I don't want you to feel like you are going on this cruise because you have to" however this is exactly how I feel.

My boyfriend hasn't had a real vacation in years so we are really looking forward to this trip and want a nice experience.

What should I do??????

Appreciate your help.

Signed,

I returned from the Divina, and as promised, I will tell you the problem isn’t with the specific ship, but the cruise line. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The cleaning staff and food service staff were great, except for one or two, but the customer service, excursion, and store staff were, in general, inept, barely spoke English, and were rude, especially to one another, which was hard to watch. The food was not good. If I ate it in any restaurant, I’d never return to that establishment again. Food is subjective though, and I did contract a food borne illness. Also, we paid for the Aurea experience and due to msc’s error, they refused to honor it for the first part of our trip, even though I showed them my receipt. Essentially, I paid a lot of money for services not received. The customer service employees said they were only a go between and couldn’t help me until the Miami office was open and could figure it out (days later). In the real world, this is called theft. In msc’s world, we were asked why we were even complaining. Smh. To avoid this, I’d check in earlier and ensure your packages are correct. We didn’t know until we went for a drink of bottled water our first night.

Wow.... Food borne illness, theft and people that are rude and can hardly speak English. Along with of course cyber stalking claims.

I thought I’d heard the term Goat Mouth before in Jamaica.

This is the definition in the urban dictionary dot com .....

“Goat Mouth. A term used in Jamaica to describe people who make negative predictions or hypotheses which actually turn out to be the case.”

For fear of being banned from my favourite social media forum I will refrain from saying anything else [emoji33]

We've spent a total of about a year at sea, but never on MSC before. We're going on the Divina in February, and have no intention of changing, second-guessing or otherwise worrying about anything. We got black cards via status match, booked a nice suite, and have every expectation of a nice cruise. I believe that expectations pretty much come true. If you've read a bunch of negative stuff about the ship, you've got to understand that at least half of it is uninformed and/or unreasonable bleating. Some of it is legitimate, but often people don't take timely and appropriate steps to have problems corrected, which the staff is usually more than happy to do.

As with most other things in life, if you expect a lousy experience, chances are you'll have one.

We sailed on Divina 11/2016 and she is a beautiful ship!! Different than Celebrity, to be sure. But I rather liked Divina better than the Celebrity sailing, I took earlier in the year.

From your remarks, I will bet good money that you will love your cruise on the Divina! We certainly did!

Ah don't be afraid. I traveled with my teenage son in a regular balcony stateroom (Fantasia experience) last summer and we absolutely loved this cruise! LOVED it! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, and don't let the telephone customer service deter you - they are not great :-) But the ship is great! The food in the MDR was great; out waiter was absolutely phenomenal; the shows were great; it was just a lovely, relaxing, wonderful cruise. There is a lot of complainers out there. Just don't let little things spoil your fun... little things always happen. You'll have a great time, I promise!
