Two days ago, I can purchase 4 x$100 carnival gift ecards. Today when I try to buy 2 more $100 gift ecards, they only have gift cards shipped to your home address ?

Do they just cancel the gift ecards ?

I been watching it for the past few week, check back on Monday, they may have it again (the e Giftcards) that's what I saw, I hope it's still the same pattern, I can't buy it, because I'm not living in Us , even though I got Us shipping address.

No, they just sell out of cards sometimes. You just have to wait until they get more in stock. Or purchase the physical cards if you’re in a hurry. You’ll have to pay a small shipping fee for each and they take about a week, give or take, to arrive. $500 or more will arrive UPS and has to be signed for.

No they sell out. Usually the e-cards first. Just keep checking. There is no pattern to when they come and go. And because of that, I buy them whenever I have money regardless of electronic or mail. The last two I got by mail reached me in 4 days.

Just off the Glory yesterday, and that ship had a new procedure for redeeming e gift cards on board at guest services. They told me that due to large numbers of fraudulent or forged cards being sold on EBAY and wherever, they are first taking the numbers of the gift cards, three at a time (I had $100 cards), to verify their authenticity. I was told to return the following day after their system checked them out to actually get them applied to my S&S acct.

I was so glad I went early in the cruise to attempt redemption, since I usually waited until the next to last day of the cruise to cash my ecards. That 24 hr "hold" on ecard redemption would have limited me to just 3 if I waited until the end of the cruise.

This is good to know that they are still doing this. I've heard other people say they weren't. I take the gift cards I used for onboard spending and buy cruise cash. Avoids trying to redeem them onboard all together. You were smart to redeem them early.

I live in Canada , I can only purchase gift ecard.

I cannot buy any physical gift cards as I don't have US address.

If we, as customers, can check the balance of a gift card ourselves (physical or e-card) almost instantly on their website, why is it taking Carnival 24 hours to verify?

Did you try to add them to your S&S account using a kiosk? I wonder if it denies it.

Cruisinisthebest, that's good for you, but not the rest of us who don't want to purchase Cruise Cash. I'm all for stopping fraudulent activity (I'd never buy them from eBay to begin with), but like I said, if we can check the balance instantly, why can't Carnival?

I live in Canada , I can only purchase gift ecard.

I cannot buy any physical gift cards as I don't have US address.

Can you please let me know how to buy it? I'm only have canadian credit card, with Canadian shipping address. I did call the customer service asked for help, but the help desk can't help me. I do have shipping address from my work office in US. Thank you in advance.

Their website said the billing address have to be the same with shipping address, no option to change the country to Canada

The most important part is to add the postal code and your physical address attached to your CC in payment info.

Ignore the country and state code sections as they are default to USA and states, we cannot change it.

It works.

Carnival ecards on sale again this morning. I just purchased 2 x $100 ecards without problem.
Thanks for the heads up.

Considering evandbob's experience aboard the Glory (mentioned in post #30), and especially since we'll be on the Glory in about six weeks, I'm hesitant to take e-cards on board with us. I don't want to go through that hassle if that's become the norm. I might buy a couple to use them to make some last minute purchases online, but I think I'll buy the physical cards to take on board with us.

Just got off my B2B on the Vista.

I used a $500 GC for the 2nd leg of the cruise.

I went down to GS and gave them the Card # and pin and than I had an available balence of $500.

I did not use the full amount and had $280 left on the card. I went to GS and they said that the remaining balance will go back to my GC for later use.

I had heard about folks using the casino to cash out a GC but didn't know how that worked (I dont play the casino really except for that coin drop thing.)

So what I figured out was I found a slot machine and created a pin to play. It ask you how you want to add funds to play so I selected charge to room. When it asked how much I put $280.

Once it was confirmed I had $280 to play with I hit the cash out button, went over to the casino desk and got my money.

Was that an eCard that you initially deposited? I know you said you gave them the number & PIN (rather than the card itself) but I just want to confirm.

I redeemed my gift cards at the Diamond Guest Services line, did not attempt at a kiosk. I thought it was a little over the top by Carnival. If the card proved to be forged, they could easily locate me on the ship the next day, eh?

When I think of fraudulent gift cards bought off ebay, for example, I always assumed they were just empty (zero balance). The buyer's the one who gets screwed, not Carnival. Let's say they don't check the balance themselves and take it on board. A simple balance check by Guest Services would tell them if it's good or not...and that only takes a minute. Or are they saying there's cards out there with funds on them, but aren't legitimate? I don't understand what they have to verify beyond a balance check.

Then you have darth frosty reporting that they just got off the Vista and didn't go through what you did. So this is yet another thing that is done on some ships, but not all, so no one knows if they're actually going to experience it or not. I'd much rather buy the eCards, but not if I have to go through that day-long verification crap.

  • 3 months later...

I'm on the rewards for good site now and regardless of what denomination I choose, there is a shipping fee.

Is that essentially the only way to know if you will get a physical card vs an e gift card?

Or are folks paying a fee and still getting an e gift card?
