cnjoy26 Posted April 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2018 How far out (months) do you book your hotel when going on a cruise? Specifically when leaving from San Juan. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cb at sea Posted April 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2018 I book as soon as I know the dates, assuming there's a cancellation window....most hotels are 48 hours for canceling.....if I see a better price, I'll book anew and cancel the more expensive option. Dajbman22 Posted April 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2018 I booked my next cruise about 9 months in advance, and booked the hotel just a couple of days later. Usually I will wait a little longer while searching for the best deal, but since my next cruise is out of Port Canaveral, I just decided to save myself a ton of headache and get a hotel+bus from Orlando package (and a quick glance at current going rates for hotels in that area, I wouldn't have saved more than $20-30 doing my own bargain hunting, and now I get picked up right from the hotel the morning of the cruise). I also booked about the same distance out when just booking a hotel in San Juan previously.

Rare pasodancer Posted April 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Found out the hard way to book early. Embassy Suites (FLL).........friends paid $109/night a year out and I paid $240/night a month out. Like above, book as soon as you book cruise, if you see a better rate, then cancel the expensive room........so easy to do.
Steve&Teri Posted April 9, 2018 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2018 For San Juan I always book as soon as I buy airline tickets normally a year to 6 mo out. You can often find a great deal on Priceline or Hotwire.
olemissreb Posted April 10, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2018 I usually book a cruise more than a year out, so when I get to that one year mark, then I start looking at hotels and excursions and drink packages and what not. This next cruise, I'll be trying to use hotel points, so it's much better booking really early so as to be sure to get a "free" room.
