BaWBarmy Posted April 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2018 Excursions, items from the shop, speciality dining, drinks. Basically if you have any sort of credit on your account it will be used first except for paying the DSC and in the casino. I think.
WanderlustJourney Posted April 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2018 Gift shop, activities, spa... I had $75 to burn on my last day, I needed a new piece of luggage (bought too much stuff), so bought an NCL roller carry on!

fourofakind Posted April 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2018 I use any non refundable credit left on my account as a tip for the kids club staff on the last day of the cruise. They work hard with the kids and are not part of the shared DCS (understandably so since not used by all). I do this by going directly to splash academy and have them charge a tip to my card. The kids staff confirmed to me that they get 100% of the money if I leave it as an extra tip on the receipt and they are always very happy and grateful when I do this. ray98 Posted April 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2018 No you didn't. Not non-refundable anyway. :) I most certainly did. You have tried this argument before and each time I pointed out numerous examples on this board of people who have done the same. I don't know why it is so hard for you to admit when you are wrong. peg013 Posted April 12, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 12, 2018 (edited) I use OBC to buy our Cruise Next Certificates. That way NCL is actually paying our entire future deposit. Where can you get a better deal? ****Unless we are in a suite - then I use it for tips for the concierge and butler and any extra for Cruise Next Deposits.**** Edited April 12, 2018 by peg013 Added*****

vince_g Posted April 12, 2018 #16 Share Posted April 12, 2018 I used ours in the casino. Me too. Not sure why some people are thinking you cannot. When I loaded money from the room account to the card, their system drew from the non-refundable.
cats04 Posted April 13, 2018 #17 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Me too. Not sure why some people are thinking you cannot. When I loaded money from the room account to the card, their system drew from the non-refundable. I called NCL today and asked this very question. I was told you can use the non-refundable OBC in the casino. The gentleman actually put me on hold to double check.

The gentleman actually put me on hold to double check. Two weeks ago on the Breakaway, I asked at the casino and guest relations...both say cash advances at the casino are charged to the credit card on file. I ended up not getting a cash advance...we used up our OBC in the on board shops. Perhaps I should have tried it...but I didn't.

The casino advances are charged to the CC on file after your OBC runs out, or if you don't have OBC.

The gentleman actually put me on hold to double check. Without question you can use it there. You can even verify it instantly using the NCL app. It now breaks down the account into refundable OBC, non-refundable OBC and actual charges which all adjust in real time. The only thing you will see not post against the non-refundable amount is the DSC's. Everything else exhausts the non-refundable, refundable and then starts charging. Unfortunately next week the same question will be asked and the same people will spread rumors that you can't use it.

Not cash advances...that is simply a transaction against your CC which uses the cash advance provisions on the card. This is about gaming in the casino which you fund through your shipboard account. vince_g Posted April 13, 2018 #22 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Not cash advances....actually using the credit in the casino for gaming. It all begins with a casino charge (cash advance) to your cabin. Whether one chooses to play the money is another story. Some people take the money and run. Just cash it out in a slot machine and redeem the ticket. Some people take the money and run. Just cash it out in a slot machine and redeem the ticket. My experience is a CC cash advance transaction is just that. They run your card and hand you the cash, it never goes through the ship account similar to the ATM setup. When you are gaming it starts with you ship card and the charges go through the onboard account just like a transaction in the shops. When it happens that way that is what brings the OBC into play. Cruizen Susan Posted April 13, 2018 #25 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Not the DSC, but it may be used for other tips, so yes! Thanks! So if I can use it for my tips to the butler, concierge and additional tip for the cabin steward, how do I do that tip transaction? Through customer relations? Or to the Haven concierge? or who....how? TIA! Susan
