Odd email from Celebrity today. The Summit has been “redeployed”.....

I am booked on the 10 night Summit cruise sailing to Bermuda and New England on June 6, 2019. The email states that the Summit has been “redeployed” and the sailing will now be an 11 night cruise with the port of Newport, RI being added. Does this mean that the ship will not be the Summit? Will the cruise no longer leave from Bayonne? They also left a vm on my cell. I am still at work and will need to call to find out what is going on. I note that on Celebrity’s website this cruise and the prior cruise has disappeared. Stay tuned for when I have answers.

Cruising Power has it listed as embarking on 6/5/19 but lists all cabins as closed. It is possible it is a charter but they could be re-pricing because of the added dayac97d69dc94fe34f475713dcb6b60ce5.jpg

This happened to me a while back (on the Mercury). We were booked on a 7 night sailing out of San Francisco as far down as Ensenada and back up to San Fran. I received a message from Celebrity that it was being redeployed as an 11 night cruise and there were ports in Mexico added. They also stated if we decided to stay on the sailing, they would allow us to keep our cabin, give us each $100 off our fare and some other small amenity. For me, that was a no brainer! The passengers booked on the sailing after ours were out of luck, although they were allowed to rebook on our sailing with some perks of their own.

Another time, though, I was booked on the Infinity up to Alaska and that sailing was canceled completely due to a charter, which took 5 days of our 14 night cruise and the remaining 9 days were turned into a Pacific Coastal. They rewarded those that switched over to the 9 night sailing with obc and special pricing.

It sounds like your scenario matches the first situation I mentioned and if so, you may likely end up better than your original pricing if you are able to stretch out your schedule by a day. Keeping fingers crossed for you! Newport is a fabulous port of call.

Hubby and I are booked for the 10 night cruise that leaves on 6/17 and I hope this will not affect our trip! So far so good, but this is upsetting that Celebrity could change things so close to sailing for any cruise!

OP is not sailing until June of 2019, that's over a year away.
