Status of Ocean Medallion?

On Thursday's CCL Corp conference call with stock analysts, the following was said about the ***** technology:

"We achieved a major milestone this quarter in our measured ramp-up of our Ocean platform, having our first full ship, Caribbean Princess, with all guests onboard experiencing Ocean Medallion class cruising. Guest satisfaction scores onboard Caribbean Princess for the period are up substantially and are among the highest in the fleet. We continue to make refinements and add more features while pacing ourselves toward expanding deployment across the Princess fleet."

And no CCL ships sank during the quarter, either!

Now that Princess is handing the Medallions out pierside and likely is never going back to sending them out

ahead of time at $30 per, ....

? Will this disappoint all the cheerleaders who thought the gizmo would allow passengers to just walk aboard with no pierside formalities?

I can't add my 10/18 booking on Caribbean Princess... Says can't be found. And Medallion is fully functional on her now.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I got to the screen that asked for my captain circle password, but then there was nothing to click, and it did nothing when I hit enter.

So with that being said, does that mean we won't have to go through the gauntlet showing our "status" and being told where to sit? Being that for now, all Medallions are blue

ahead of time at $30 per, I suspect the Ocean Compass app will go the way of the Princess@Sea app (not

the webpage on board) as an unneeded waste of time and effort.

Why would you think that, especially after Carnival Corporation had terminal 2 at Port Everglades upgraded for the medallion experience?

Quite some time ago--over a year, I think--an Ocean Medallion roll-out schedule was published by Princess, and that schedule showed the Ruby Princess as getting the system late 2018

From what I understand, there is a land based group who install main system and the trunk wiring harness throughout the ship while in dry dock. A separate crew works on the ship while in home port. Unknown if third group goes to sea to work on cabin doors and to power up and test. As asked, wondering if anyone KNOWS if ***** getting loaded on board?

I was on the Caribbean Princess for a month. There was definitely a group working on the ship while at sea. Also, when in other ports like in St. Thomas when welding happened.

Just got off the Caribbean Princess. It is still a work in progress but overall working. It worked great on opening your cabin door when you were within a few feet. It worked in the casino once you got your account set up. I had a crew member help me since I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box when it comes to computers (lol). It worked in paying for things at the International Cafe It was necessary, though, to keep both the card and ***** with you at all times as sometimes they wanted the *****, other times the card. They always wanted your card when you got a drink. Saw a lot of people playing games on the big screens around the ship with the *****.. You could even gamble on some of the screens if you wanted. I didn't avail myself of that option. We were provided a lanyard with a plastic "pocket" to carry both your card and *****. People were not shy about wearing them whereas in the past people sometimes thought;the lanyards were a little tacky. They sold some very expensive accessories (in my humble opinion) if you wanted to carry your ***** as a necklace, bracelet, etc.
