YankeesFan4Life Posted July 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2018 So my buddy is on the Adventure of the Seas right now, we get on the ship this Friday. He told me that he waited an hour and a half for a tender at Coco Cay! Is this normal? He didn't get on shore until 11:30am! DW and I are doing wave runners at 10am, and the kids have the teen adventure pack at 10am as well. Any advice on how to handle this???? TIA! emory2001 Posted July 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2018 We get up super early for Coco Cay, have breakfast in Windjammer as soon as it opens and get on the first or second tender.
YankeesFan4Life Posted July 10, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted July 10, 2018 So the ship anchors at 9am, and my RCCI excursions are booked for 10am. What time would you suggest I get on line? 8??? Seriously going to have major anxiety over this
emory2001 Posted July 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2018 If it were me, I'd be in line no later than 8:30. That should put you on the first or second tender, and the boats hold a lot of people. Also a lot of people will not be "up and at 'em" that early, so don't worry too much.

1025cruise Posted July 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2018 We didn't get off at CocoCay, but if you have scheduled stuff, I thought there was a designated meeting spot where you went straight to the tenders.

Your wave runner tour may meet on board prior to the excursion and you may be escorted to one of he first tenders. That happened with my scuba excursion. I've never been on Coco Cay with that large of a ship, but have been there with 2 ships. If you do have an early meeting, take the kids.
Laurie12820 Posted July 10, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 10, 2018 We didn’t have an excursion to get to but we went down around 10:30am and we were on the island by 11. No issues getting on the tender. If you look at your cruise compass for the day of Coco Cay it will tell you what the peak hours for tendering are.

Seriously going to have major anxiety over this No need for anxiety, you will meet somewhere on the ship for the tour and be escorted onto a tender. racerxspeedy Posted July 10, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2018 Bob - Have you seen any update on the dock completion at Cococay? RC shows March 2019 for the "perfect day" completion, but I was hoping the tendering would stop well before March??

blue is the best Posted July 10, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 10, 2018 October. So if I am sailing on the Anthem leaving 10/27/18 I still have a chance to be docking? Steve, Medford NY

slotmomma3 Posted July 11, 2018 #16 Share Posted July 11, 2018 We will be on the Anthem on 2/15/19. I am hoping by then we will be docking, not tendering. In case the dock is still not done, do suites get priority escorts to the tenders?
NanciRDH Posted July 25, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 25, 2018 Delays and schedule slippage is the norm in many construction projects. Especially those being built on *island time*:p
LESLIEKURZ Posted July 30, 2018 #18 Share Posted July 30, 2018 I was wondering if RCCL had given an updated date on docking myself. I did Anthem last year and loved getting my tender tickets the day before thus, avoiding the lines. Looking forward to being able to stroll on and off. Will be nice not to have so many cancellations for that port too.

cb at sea Posted July 31, 2018 #20 Share Posted July 31, 2018 We've never been in a rush to be "first" ashore....but I know it wasn't 1 1/2 hours wait!

Some of us have seen 3.5 hour waits, but that was before they expanded the tender fleet a little or when two ships were at the island.
