Have to say that is really poor. I can understand if they require spare parts or expertise, but you have been in port in that time and they could have sourced these locally or had them flown in to meet you if needed.

Easy to say, but not knowing what the issue is, not really a fair comment.  Perhaps it is an issue that requires more extensive attention to correct than a few spare parts.  Fortunately the inconvenience is only with something as minor as TV reception.

Currently on Reflection. No TV, working on issues. Realize there is so much to do and it is a lovely ship, but sometimes I like to catch up on news and sports. Day 4, no TV.

In the Summit several times my TV have weak signal, I can't see TV or check my account.

Can't argue what you are saying as your experience but I thought the ship channels relative to your account, etc., were direct feed and not satellite dependent.  Perhaps I am incorrect.

So did you check the antenna cable connection??? :classic_biggrin::classic_wink:  It would seem if it occurred with you it would have been ship wide?

So I guess I stand corrected....but still surprised.  Wonder why they would use their satellite system for the ship channel's?  Maybe they can't be separated and its all or nothing.

Could be a hardware issue, but more likely a software problem so no spare parts will fix that.  Or, as said, it could be something wrong with the communications satellite and completely out of the control of Celebrity.

Yeah, it could be anything, I agree.

I have limited experience with similar arrangements and most organisations rent the satellite access along with specialist support to ensure any downtime is minimised. I’d be surprised if celebrity were any different.

IMO, I reckon 4 days is more than enough time to have it reinstated. If ships crew don’t have the skills or spares to repair; the problem should have been escalated to ensure the people or kit were at the next port of call.

On our recent Summit cruise to New England the television experience was the WORST I have ever had at sea after 25+ cruises. I know, I am on a cruise, do I really need to watch TV? Yes. Because my wife and I both caught horrible colds and just needed a day to be sick in our cabin. Wanted to take our minds off of how we felt by watching television. Good luck!

Nothing on at all. Barely got the map of where we were. When somethings would come on the reception was horrible and the selection even worse. HGTV that flickered in and out. Cooking channel that repeated the same shows over and over again. Celebrity's television experience has gotten worse and worse over the years.

Now I totally get problems with satellite reception. Weather can screw that up and on this cruise we had some crazy weather. But couldn't they PLEASE put some movies, TV shows, anything on their server that we can access while at sea. The only option other than the aforementioned lousy programming were movies that were chargeable at $14.95 per viewing. Most of them were old. Something that I would find free on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

This summer we did a quick HAL cruise to Alaska and their TV was AWESOME! Tons of free movies, the full catalog of BBC nature films and so much more. Incredible 4K televisions in every cabin. Makes X look sad in that department.

I have had people ask me why I didn't just stream Netflix or Amazon? Well besides only having Elite Plus interest minutes, in our aft cabin, the connectivity was HORRID!  I ran a couple of speed tests and got barely .3 megabytes per second up (at home I get 50 MB up and down). Yes, .3.

X needs to fix this. It's an easy fix.

Would be the least of my issues...who needs it?

Did you read what I wrote. We were sick and looking for something to take our minds off being sick and missing all the fun we knew our friends were having. Just a couple of old, free movies would have been nice. Next time if you can't take the time to read something or it doesn't interest you, why comment on it.

Why do people ask that? Just because you don't like TV or movies doesn't mean other people don't. My husband and I don't spend a lot of time in bars or dancing and we don't criticize people who do. We enjoy watching movies in our room in the evenings while we unwind. Why does that invite criticism?
