zookeeper Posted January 17, 2006 #27 Share Posted January 17, 2006 Apparently that commercial was created by a successful marketing company. Kudos to them!
airhead22 Posted January 17, 2006 #28 Share Posted January 17, 2006 Yes to the OP!!! It is driving me crazy. I can't afford to book right now, and it is killing me! Even though I have a week at the beach coming up in July in a place I consider heaven on earth, it just is not the same excitment that comes with anticipating a cruise. I am so depressed..Carnivals fault... oops, wrong thread again.
Lewdog Posted January 17, 2006 #29 Share Posted January 17, 2006 I love the Royal Caribbean theme song "Here comes Johnny...". Once when we were booked on them, I was singing along with the commercial and my teen told me what the song was about. I can't believe they made that their theme song. The lyrics are somewhere over on that board. When you take into account the song's title is "Lust For Life" it makes more sense. Music selection for marketing is usually based on a song's title or or a an appropraite "catchy phrase".
BonnieSte Posted January 17, 2006 #30 Share Posted January 17, 2006 It's better than that Kathie Lee Gifford crap from years ago. And why do criminals always go by all three names? Kathie Lee Gifford is a criminal? I believe there are some great people with 3 names also... Martin Luther King for one.
beansatw Posted January 17, 2006 #31 Share Posted January 17, 2006 Believe me, the Carnival commercials are twice as painful when you have TiVo, and you find it necessary to stop, pause, and replay them two or three or nine hundred times. Before you know it, you've got a cramp in your remote control thumb as well as an irritated spouse who wishes you'd just let her get back to her show. :D
jw4jg1mg2eg1 Posted January 17, 2006 #32 Share Posted January 17, 2006 WELL....I just called my daughter to wake her up with that song....HA! she said it was a lollaby...hehehehe......3 mos..6 days...til we go on the Conquest ( or Connie for short). Actually, it's Martin Luther King JUNIOR who was a great man. AFAIK, the only wonderful thing Martin Luther King did was become a daddy and do a good job raising him. tcpdjp Posted January 17, 2006 #36 Share Posted January 17, 2006 I can't even visit this message board unless I have a cruise booked because I feel left out:) 44 days until we set sail again and we are getting ready to book something for Thanksgiving, so I've been back at the boards for a couple of months now. Love that commercial, too!
LizaMM Posted January 17, 2006 #37 Share Posted January 17, 2006 Oh YEAH!!! I absolutely know what you all mean!! Everything stops, my head turns and for those few moments I am mesmerized! Since I am cruising soon I smile while I watch them....If no cruise is booked I start thinking "must book".. So....It seems these ads are somewhat "Stepford Wives" in nature.... It's all Carnivals Fault!!
beaming90 Posted January 17, 2006 #38 Share Posted January 17, 2006 I find that I have to run into the room every time I hear the words somewhere beyond the sea. It does make life difficult! I love that my 75 year old mom will say something like we'll be there in December...Or there we are on our ship! Each time the commercial comes on too. :)
christinasreadytocruise Posted January 17, 2006 #39 Share Posted January 17, 2006 I can't take it anymore!!! No matter what I'm doing, cooking dinner, unloading the dishwasher or folding laundry that commercial seems to come on. At first I'm memorized torn away from what I'm doing staring at the screen in awe, then it hits me I don't have a damn cruise booked & all I want to do is throw what ever is in my hand at the screen !!!Anyone else feel like this? no way i luv luv this commercial!!! everytime i hear the song or see the commercial i get so excited! Its like a little reminder to me that in 3 and a half months ill be sailing away to stand on golden sands! i always nudge my husband and get all giddy and weird like a little kid when that commercial comes on. its my first cruise so i guess thats why its so exciting to me. Ship Addict Posted January 17, 2006 #42 Share Posted January 17, 2006 Well, I have 33 pounds to go before I can even think of booking another cruise. DH promised me a gift of a cruise if I was successful in losing the weight (which he was probably hoping he would never have to deliver on -- but I will show him!). Every time that commercial comes on, or the RC one for that matter, it is like the treat dangling on the stick for me and the only encouragement I need to stick to my diet! elaineb Posted January 18, 2006 #44 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Gatorclaw - Loved your commercial. In RI we have a little problem - the local casino also plays "Beyond the Seas" to advertise its new bar. So I get all excited and go to the TV and Voila - a commercial for Lincoln Downs!

LizaMM Posted January 18, 2006 #50 Share Posted January 18, 2006 It was on for two hours last night.Dave It sure was!!!! Last night was my first time ever seeing American Idol. My kids had it on while I was doing some work on the computer in the same room.....When that guy sang "Beyond the Sea" I immediatly thought of Carnival and my cruises and then I thought about this thread and had to laugh as I pictured Cruise Critic folk all around the nation with their heads whipping toward the tv!!
