lenquixote66 Posted February 16, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2019 I have not heard from RCI or my TA on this matter but I will check it out on Monday.
1025cruise Posted February 16, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2019 New law in NY? Its possible that NYS has a new law that contradicts the Royal policy.
lenquixote66 Posted February 16, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2019 I have not heard anything about about a new law relating to travel insurance.
leaveitallbehind Posted February 16, 2019 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2019 (edited) The confirmation of this is from RCI indicating that residents of New York are not eligible for Cruise Care travel protection and that RCI is looking at alternatives. That is basically all of the information available. Edited February 16, 2019 by leaveitallbehind
lenquixote66 Posted February 16, 2019 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2019 That makes no sense to me. Would this be mandated by the State Insurance Dept or the Governor ?
hancock Posted February 16, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2019 I never book through the cruise line. Not enough coverage. I go to www.squaremouth.com or www.insuremytrip.com

I have no information as to who mandated it - only that it is not available in NY. Why not go back to the agency that offered the insurance at no cost to you - perhaps they could provide different coverage that is available in NY? Your reference of a different TA would make that unlikely. Sorry - didn't think my response through very well! Rare FlyerTalker Posted February 16, 2019 #14 Share Posted February 16, 2019 There are a number of insurance policies (not just cruise/travel related) that are not available for sale in certain states. Ditto with real estate investments and other financial instruments. Apparently, the policy sold by RC will not meet the regulations and requirements of NY state. As to who or why, those are probably moot points for curiousity only, since New Yorkers now will not have this product to purchase. Beyond that...nothing to add.
