At Modernos; overflow at Cagneys next door

This is correct.

Breakfast and Lunch are in Modernos - BUT if it is a SEA day more in likely there will be more guests than room

the overflow goes into Cagney's (the section just behind the Host desk)

There is a buffet island in the middle of Moderno for individual selection of items.

There is a menu provided to order from (the same everyday) but feel free customize your entree.

Alcoholic day starters are available but there is a short wait (Sugar Cane Mohito bar not full service).

On a windy distressing day avoid being seated near the entrance corridor (the air door opening to deck 13)

They use Moderno because it has the salad bar that is used for cold items in the morning buffet.

Thanks for your input. Going on Dawn next month and staying in suite. Wondered where breakfast  & lunch were held. Do they have a set menu or buffet? I like a salad bar at lunch.

Hi Kitty-sail,

We just got off the Dawn on Sunday. If your cruise is port intensive with early excursion start times, as you are in a suite, you can have the breakfast from Moderno delivered to your room. Moderno (during our cruise)  opened at 7 am. Just hand write on the breakfast card  what item(s)  offered from the suite breakfast and your butler will get it for you. We enjoyed steak and eggs a few mornings in our stateroom which gave us a little extra time before our excursion.

It is a set menu, and there wasn't a salad bar at lunch. If you want a salad you can order off the menu. If there isn't something you want, if Stefan (breakfast/lunch manager) is working, he will ensure you get what you want.

It was our first time on the Dawn and we enjoyed the cruise. Service was excellent in all the specialty restaurants and food was good.

Roy was the concierge and he took care of all of our specialty restaurant requests with no issues, so if you try to pre-book online prior to your cruise, don't sweat it, he will get you the times you need.

Mellanie was our butler, and she was excellent.

Enjoy your upcoming cruise.

Regards,

Is that the big guy Roy that used to be a butler?

dexddd,

I don't know if Roy was previously a butler, didn't ask him. Roy is bald headed, and from the Philippines. He was attentive, and took care of any issues that we had ( changing/creating/modifying restaurant reservations, escorts off the ship at every port of call, disembarkation, etc).

We were very pleased with him.

That sounds like him - he was a fairly burly guy as far as butlers we've had.  Roy was one of the few butlers that was "formally" trained as part of the NCL Butler program that they talked about briefly a few years ago.

Roy was very nice and I could easily see him getting promoted to concierge.
