P&O Arcadia calling into Newcastle

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why there is an itinerary change for Arcadia on its current world cruise. Marine Traffic has it heading to Newcastle tomorrow the 19th February and this is confirmed by Newcastle Port Authority but it is not on the Newcastle cruise schedule listing nor is it on the itinerary for its world cruise.

Must be a late change to the itinerary but why?

On our way to the Bay, saw this girl in Newcastle. Weird sort of day for them - warm, some blustering wind and dusty plus looks like rain clouds building up.

Are the HAL vista better looking? see attached of Westerdam.

Where the accommodation bends in fore & aft to allow space for the boats - inside the alleyways / corridors also have a double bend.  On Arcadia this caused unsightly damage where trolleys hit as they went around.  HAL have done away with trolleys & I did not notice any damage on Noordam.

If booking a balcony on a Vista class - they are smaller in size in the area above the boats compared to the fore & aft areas.

Nice pics, thanks. Love the Arcadia, did 49 days on her in 2012, Sydney to Southampton via Africa, then another year a Med cruise on her. I like the Vista Class ships, just the right size.  Our next ship - Noordam is also Vista Class.

Yep, I agree, but it has nice lines and the dark hull. Just like P&O Aria and Eden.

Because P&O Australia did not want to spend all that money on white paint to get rid of the HAL dark blue.  Cheap skates.

Arcadia was never intended to be a P&O ship. It was originally a HAL ship but was designed later to go to Cunard. It was supposed to be the Queen Victoria and painted in a black hull. If you look carefully at its profile and design you will see featrues that are unique to Cunard line only. The mast for example how the top of it tilts forward was a feature that came out with the design of QE2 and apparently to give it a modern look and if you look at the funnel shape and structures around its base it resembles the similar shape and profile as the funnel of the QE2. All Cunard ships have tried to mimic this profile ever since. Arcadia is unique as it was never intended to be a P&O ship.
