Carnival v Celebrity - what differences will I notice?

Hi I'm platinum on Carnival and Elite with Celebrity. Yes many of the comments are correct. However coming from NY I have to say Carnival probably has the best pizza fleet-wide. Can't eat the pizza on Celebrity at all. On the Equinox in a suite in Sept. and the Carnival Magic for a New Years cruise. Carnival really doesn't offer any suite amenities in comparison to Celebrity.  Hey we make the best out of both. But no one could come close in price for our New Years Eve cruise.

Funny - we aren't interested in any perks. Tje drink packages seem exorbitant on all cruise lines. We take our 2 bottles of wine, 12 packs of soda, and buy one or two drinks a day. Can't see paying $60 per day for drinks.  We also cruise to get away so no interest in free internet.

I enjoy the Love and Marriage show on Carnival - we even participated.

We agree some of the comedians are bad - we just skip those. I really like the singalongs piano o bar on Carnival.

Love Guys Burgers and have never had problems with the food in the dining room we skip the buffet.

Overall we find Carnival a great value.

But we have done Caribbean too much and Celebrity has some great itineraries. And I am looking forward to something different.

is there a passenger laundry on Celebrity ships?

we will be on for 16 days and would like to do a load of laundry - don't want to pay the ship to do it

also we love the soft serve ice cream and pizza always available on Carnival.  Does Celebrity have ice cream always available?  what other snacks/treats do you recommend for between meals or late night?

No passenger laundry.  They run wash & fold specials for $50 (sometimes as low as $30) where you fit all your clothes in a laundry bag and get it back the next day.  It is very much worth the price on very long cruises IMO.  If you are a Captain's Club Elite or above you can get some free laundry as a perk.  Celebrity has free ice cream (hard) in the Oceanview Cafe every day.  It also has  gelato (not free) as part of Cafe al Bacio.  Really good sweet snacks and deserts at the same place (all free).  An area of the Oceanview Cafe (buffet) is open late at night for pizza and snacks too.  Of course there is always Room Service late at night.

You might find Celebrity boring and miss Carnival.  If you like free laundry, burgers, pizza, passenger participation game shows, etc., Celebrity might disappoint you.  Of course, one person's boring is another's ultimate relaxation.

As for the perks, if drinks and internet are for you, you can always take $300 OBC and paid gratuities.

I don't think we will find Celebrity boring - we will just find different things to do.

I love the itinerary we have chosen with a port every other day.  We shouldn't have time to be bored.

and sounds like Celebrity has ice cream all the time, which is always a plus

I have already commented but had another thing. Carnival was confusing.  You could not walk from one end to the other without taking the stairs or the elevator.

Also, just my humble opinion, I find Talka's response about African Americans and overweight people offensive.

No, they don’t dance on the tables people use for dining!!  😝😂 They have tables they use for that purpose.

The tables that Carnival waiters dance on are their round serving tables.  They dance towards the end of the meal, usually just as or immediately after desserts are served.  The tables get wiped down by the dancer when the "show" is over.

Still tacky IMO.

The ship shuts down at 11PM on Celebrity.  I jest, I jest...  kind of.
