dfencecoach Posted July 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2019 We have a 10 am shuttle from our hotel on 17th street. Our board time is 12-12:30. Will we be ok leaving the hotel at this time?
Tmc1512 Posted July 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2019 It is just a quick hop, skip and a jump. Way more than plenty of time. It only takes about a half hour to get into the port. Security can back up but not very long usually.
CruiserBruce Posted July 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2019 Piece of cake. You could go at 11:30 and be fine.

Paulinda Posted July 18, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2019 We usually leave for the port around 10:30 even if our suggested boarding time is usually much later. We've never had a problem boarding. The people at the terminal have always been gracious and welcoming.
BNBR Posted July 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2019 1 hour ago, dfencecoach said: Will they let us in if we arrive this early? Depends on the situation and the cruise line. Carnival is more notorious for denying access, but they have an early arrival line, too. So that shouldn't be a problem. When we were boarding last month on Carnival, there were people near us with arrival times 2 hours later, being checked in. If anyone gives you trouble, just tell them you didn't have a choice, you had to check out, this was the only time for the cruise shuttle, etc. But these cruise lines are so rapid with check in nowadays that they tend to not really care. You'll be fine.

I have seen people waiting to board when we have been leaving the ship at 8:30 or 9. You could easily go over at 10am. Many cruise lines start their boarding around 11:30. Royal & Celebrity you would have no problem getting on before your assigned time, the others I am not sure.

teknoge3k Posted July 19, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 19, 2019 Back in May we got to the port at 9:15 and I bet there were 2,000 people already in line to get in. It was wrapped around the building.
nhraformula00 Posted July 21, 2019 #11 Share Posted July 21, 2019 (edited) With 20 cruise's in our past I would not get to the port that early. Get a later shuttle by 1 hour. Edited July 21, 2019 by nhraformula00 spelling

We had FTTF and just walked straight in to check-in. If you have an appointment time and don't have priority boarding, you may have to go to the early/late line if you arrive outside of your appointment time. They began calling suite passengers around 10:40 and FTTF at 10:50. As we were going through the line to board, they called zones A01 and A02. We carried our bags on ourselves and were unpacked by 11:10.
Countrygurl Posted July 23, 2019 #14 Share Posted July 23, 2019 There is an on-time line and an early/late line. You will be directed to the early/late line. It is typically longer and be prepared to stand out in the sun.

The new tablet check in has almost removed any reason to have staggered boarding at all.
