Cirque du Soleil at Sea - Dinner & Show

We've just confirmed our YC inside cabin for Christmas 2020 in Brazil on the MSC Grandiosa. Looking forward to enjoying Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows, probably one as a dinner & show the other as cocktail & show.

I know that drinks are not included in the Dinner & Show package. Does anyone know if any drinks are included based on your drinks package or does everyone have to pay for their drinks? Thanks!

I can not answer your question but recommend to have dinner in the YC restaurant and book the Cirque Du Soleil “Cocktail & Show” tickets. The seats are closer to the stage and in my opinion better seats compared to the tables in the back of the theatre. We went to two Cirque Du Soleil performances on Bellissima and to three performances on Meraviglia with “Cocktail & Show” packages and fantastic seats , after we had dinner in the YC restaurant.

I am booked on MSC Meraviglia in YC with the dinner and show package that I will hopefully be able to change to the cocktail and show performance.  I'd prefer to have dinner in the YC restaurant.  What time might dinner be?  What time might the show be?  Would a Butler escort me to the seating area for the show?

We had early dinner in the YC from 6:30pm to 8:15, went to a show in the Broadway Theatre from 8:45pm to 9:30pm and met our YC butler at 9:50pm in the YC lounge. He escorted us to the Carousel Lounge for entrance to the Cirque Du Soleil show at 10:00pm (show started at 10:30pm).

This was on a Baltic Sea cruise on MSC Meraviglia in September 2019.

Thanks SirWolf. Good to hear that the closer seats are better. We were concerned that they may be too close making the table at the back better. You've just saved us some money that will be used for crepes & ice-cream!

can I show up with Dinner and a Show ticket to the Cocktail and Show seating?

I posted this question before, but nobody replied. We have 2 Dinner Show tickets for the adults included in our fare, but nothing for the kid. I don't want to pay $40+ for his dinner because he is not going to eat it anyway. I was thinking of getting him a Cocktail and a Show ticket and have him seated with us, or just all three of us showing up for the Cocktail and a Show seating.

What do you all think?

I doubt anyone has any experience of doing so, hence no response, I&S.  If I were you, I'd check it out asap after embarkation.

You've gotten some informative replies, but you should also be aware that your choices for dinner are very limited.  When we went the dinner choices were lamb and fish.  Period.

Most helpful SirWolf!  Thank you!

Yes and No. Yes, the Cirque Du Soleil shows can only be booked with one of the two packages (‘dinner & show’ or ‘cocktail & show’). No, MSC does not assign date and time. You select date and time of the show according to the show schedule while on board.

Thank you, SirWolf.   I just made a cocktail/show ressie online and was able to select date/time.

I doubt that the selected date & time will be submitted to the ship... you better confirm once on board. We booked a Cirque Du Soleil show on Meraviglia (Baltic Sea , Sept 2019) and a “auto-generated” date for the show was in the confirmation eMail. We mentioned the show reservation to the Yacht Club Concierge, he checked the date and told us that no Cirque Du Soleil show was scheduled for this night. The Concierge called the Cirque Du Soleil reservation desk and arranged a new date & time for the show. It would be convenient if passengers can select date & time but as per today I don’t trust the website/software.

We did the dinner show and booked on board when sailing on Bellissima although we enjoyed the show definitely wouldn’t book it again an extremely limited and in our opinion not very good menu.

Perhaps another time if we decided to go we’d book the cocktail option.

The theatre was only about three quarters full.

Thanks for the info!!  The booking I made yesterday wasn't confirmed (dropped out of 'my cart' overnight).  So I've decided to wait until onboard to make a purchase based upon availability/date/time.

We just went to both shows on the Meraviglia.  We booked a long time ago and there was no option for selecting day and time.  It was no problem once on board, we just went to the theater and selected.  I would strongly suggest doing only the cocktail and show.  As previously mentioned, the seats are so much closer to the stage.  I would also suggest booking online ahead of time.  Tickets with reserved seats will be delivered to your stateroom the morning of your scheduled show.  They told us that they assign the best seats to yacht club, followed by those who booked online.  Our seats were  excellent for both shows and we were not in the yacht club.  Yes, the butler will escort you and there is a separate line for yacht club.  There is really no hurry since everyone has assigned seats.

My booking includes the dinner and show which I don't want.  I believe I will be able to change that to the cocktail and show once onboard.  If not, I probably will not attend.  I am not a fan of Cirque de Soleil performances.

Hopefully you’ll be able to we certainly wouldn’t do the dinner show again.

I appreciate your confirming my thinking.  It's difficult to equate a dinner that I should enjoy in the YC Restaurant with a dinner elsewhere on the ship with the set menu that I have seen for this dinner and show.
