crooooze Posted March 21, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2020 Anyone know if it's possible to purchase excursions in advance and applying OBC? RC allows this on through their cruise planner. Not worth waiting on the phone to ask Carnival. If we wait until we're onboard to book excursions, it's possible our choices and timeslots would not be available. If we book in advance and pay with credit card, the extra OBC we've accumulated from ES credits don't all get used. Ugh, first world problems... ☺️
Bases5 Posted March 21, 2020 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2020 Times are changing, But in the past you could not use OBC for anything before you were onboard.
Joe817 Posted March 21, 2020 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2020 No, you cannot purchase an excursion in advance using OBC - On Board Credit. You can, wait until you get on board to purchase it. Paying for an excursion in advance, is the way to go, IMO. If you have any OBC left, then what's left will be refunded back to you in the form of a gift card. bury me at sea Posted March 21, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2020 OBC can be used only when you are on board the ship. You described your two alternatives perfectly. In reality not too many excursions are fully booked prior to sailing. I would gamble on booking on board unless it's a very popular excursion with limited availability. Excursions don't make or break a cruise for me. If it's particularly important to you that's different.
Rare Saint Greg Posted March 21, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2020 When I want to use OBC on an excursion I wait until I board and go directly to shore excursions to make sure I get it.
