Cruise ports that are welcoming cruisers back when the companies are ready

I banned myself by moving all my cruises to 2021.   When I got home from my March cruise I had 8 more cruises booked in 2020 (2 in June, 2 in July, 1 in September, 2 in November and 1 in December.)  I cancelled 4 of them completely and moved the other 4 to 2021.  If it says anything I have 1) already had Covid so I have "supposed" (maybe) immunity and 2) my cruises are comped through the cruise line casinos so I only have to pay port taxes and/or nominal admin fees.  But I am still not getting on a cruise ship in 2020.

I certainly respect anyone wanting to wait.  One has to make their own decisions.  However there was one cruiser that said he wrote a letter to stop the ports from opening in his/ my area.  Dont stop me. Geez.  (Not saying you)

  • J P Morgan study
  • Report says infection rates have been falling seen since lockdown measures were lifted in parts of the country
  • Alabama, Wisconsin and Colorado are among those that saw lower infection rates (R rates) after lockdown measures were lifted, according to the report
  • The R rate is the average number of people who will become infected by one person with the virus.

The JP Morgan report says that restarting the US economy may not lead to a second surge in infections that health experts have feared given the falling infections rates seen since lockdown measures were lifted in parts of the country

Good grief!!  The conversation started about the Bahamas NOT Jamaica.  The one printed source you linked to for the Bahamas basically says there no date certain for opening up.  The other was a video from a ranting, rambling travel agent who doesn't know any more than you or anyone else about exact opening dates.  AGAIN, cruise line CEOs have ALL said that they will not sail until they can assure their passengers and the CDC that cruising will be safe.  Haven't seen ANY concrete plans  from ANY cruise line about how they plan on doing that.  When they submit those plans to the CDC and they are approved, then cruising will open.  Wishful thinking isn't going to change that!

Watch the video he mentions jamica.  And other ports also.  Obviously you are ranting without doing so. Watch the entire thing its only 4min ffs.

Charles we are talking the carrabean here. Cruising will start slow indeed. With just a few short cruises and ships.

That is video showing Jamaican crew members finally being repatriated. Glad after months of being stranded that Royal has gotten then home. Jamaican citizens being repatriated has nothing to do with tourists. I wonder if the crew members will have to quarantine for 14 days.

Ok Seaman, let's think this one through together.  Lockdown restrictions were lifted earlier this week (a few days ago) in most places.  Let's say that I will give you that everyone who went out decided to make a testing facility the first place they went.  If they tested negative, then that was the result of their prior quarantining.  Covid-19 has an incubation period of up to 14 days (as far as current science says.)  If these people DID get tested this week, they are testing too soon.  They need to go back and get tested in a few weeks.

Do you see how "studies" are connecting dots that are NOT there?  Think about it.  How could anyone get tested THIS WEEK (AND get their results which can take a few days!) and then connect their negative result to activities THIS WEEK.  Test results from this week are a reflection on their PAST activities (like last week and the week before) not today.

it can take up to 14 days, not that it shows up exactly 14 days after contracting it.   however i do expect some states numbers to rise with reopening, and that is why im laying low for a few more weeks.

....What pancake missed is ships that sail will have medic cabins set up in case of those emergencies....

Indeed, and they would be set up in what was previously the buffet area....if they were to sail in the timeframe you believe!

I did say "up to 14 days" so I do agree with you there.  But I stand firm that test results THIS WEEK don't reflect the impact of reopening.  We need to look at next week and the week after and beyond.

my county opened up phase 1 a week ago .  and the numbers so far look good.   i do agree they can rise.  by the end of may we will see, hopefully ppl are being careful.  i know some are not and that gets on my nerves because they could set us all back .

also us virgin islands will open soon to tourism, (though ships coming from the us  wont be ready to sail )  however it gives you the idea they know the risks but need to get tourism back up.

I had to completely cancel 4 since I was already pretty booked up for 2021. 😂

I am getting tons of offers from the cruise casinos right now for 2020 and early 2021.  They are desperate.  Even folks who don't normally get comp cruise offers (like my sister who sometimes travels with me but has probably never spent more than $100 in a casino in her LIFE) are getting offers for FREE cruises.

So I’m going to get in the mix with this comment. I live in Florida and Universal Studios put a plan together for the CDC and Governor and it was approved for June 1st.  Disney still hasn’t made an official plan yet. But my point is these theme parks KNOW CROWD CONTROL. If they could get a plan together then I’m sure cruise lines will follow. I think a lot of places are looking at Orlando for ideas. Now they said they will be requiring face masks. How that will work in 90 degree heat, I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ It certainly will be interesting to see.

good post, and at the earliest we are talking august. so there is a lot of time to appease the cdc. the  cruise lines have also assembled teams to work with them.

but the main issue on this topic was will some ports  welcome the ships when they do get the approval from the cdc, and i think the answer is yes ,  some will welcome them with open arms.

go get em seaman11, there sure are a lot of negative nancy's on this board, yes I feel sorry for them

When he says stupid stuff like it's May where I live, what month is it where you (me) lives.

Thats just being ridiculous when one doesn't pay attention to was actually said.

Negative Nancy's vs. Realists

Glass 1/2 Empty or Half full

Most of us as you would say Negative Nancy's Arent saying cruising won't begin again. We know it will at some point. But he can't keep changing his story and say he's never said "that". Story changes like people change underware -Daily!!

See How All 50 States Are Reopening

Colorado - April 26 - Stay at Home Order Expired

Georgia  - April 30 - Shelter in Place Order Expired
Alabama - April 30 - Stay at Home Order Expired

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/states-reopen-map-coronavirus.html

You really need to start reading past the headlines and researching before sharing.  While the "Stay at Home (Phase 1) has expired, Colorado is still in a Level 2 "Safer at Home" phase.  (My sister is a nurse in Colorado, so I knew immediately your post was misleading.  I don't have time to fact-check the rest of the states.)

Here's what Colorado Governor Jared Polis said last week:

The governor announced that camping can resume in many state parks starting May 12th....

....Polis said there might also be decision on spring skiing and opening restaurants and summer camps by May 25. He said the data on new cases and hospitalizations will guide these future decisions.

"These are not potential opening days, these are days when we'll have more data and can make the call,” Polis said. “We need a good indication from the data about these steps,” to see if the loosened restrictions are working.

Here's the definition of "Stay at Home" vs. "Safer at Home" (Colorado's current status)
