Administrators Rare LauraS Posted July 8, 2020 Administrators #1 Share Posted July 8, 2020 (8:00 a.m. EDT) -- Norway-based cruise line Hurtigruten has confirmed it will return 14 of its 16 ships back into operation from next month. The line restarted cruising along the Norwegian coastline on June 16 on MS Finnmarken, and has gradually increased the number of ships plying this route to four, as well as a round-trip Hamburg cruise. shipsmail Posted July 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2020 I am impressed that they will conduct year-roung cruises from Hamburg to Norway. That is very important for the German market. We are just about to book a winter expedition cruise from Hamburg to Norway.
hallasm Posted July 28, 2020 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2020 (edited) They also plan departures from Dover along the coast of Norway as well as an 12 days expedition voyage from Bergen when Havila is starting to serve 3 of the 11 ships at the Norwegian Coastal Service Hurtigruten will deploy the three available ships for Norway expedition voyages with longer port stops. ighten Posted July 28, 2020 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2020 I wonder what will happen to the expedition ship Roald Admunsen after the UK expeditions in Sep as it seems a little unlikely it will be able to continue with the planned Carribean Sea expedition -- though they may end up having to push the UK dates back as well as our govt seems utterly clueless at the moment about what its doing. grayjay Posted July 28, 2020 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2020 As far as I noticed on Hurtigruten's website the Caribbean expedition on Roald Amundsen in autumn has been cancelled whereas the one for sister ship Fridtjof Nansen is still in place. I'm starting to doubt though that the season in South America and Antarctica will go through as planned with the pandemic still raging through Peru and Chile, for example and so many still unable to be accepted on flights to and entry into their destinations. Dover departures. I could get a direct flight (when our travel ban is lifted) from Canada to Gatwick Airport. Do you know how many days the sailings will be out of Dover? jonikal Posted August 1, 2020 #9 Share Posted August 1, 2020 Hopefully Hurtigruten isn't going to fast with the resumption of sailings given the just announced COVID outbreak on the Amundsen.

cruisr Posted August 1, 2020 #11 Share Posted August 1, 2020 Well now we know what happens if you start anything too early. Very sad for crew and guests. I will not get on a cruise ship anytime soon.
