Tracked Star Princess tonight, moving into what appears to be drydock in Singapore.

I think You may find Star Princess is just at this stage going in for "maintenance " and inspection to make sure everything is working ok 🙂

Hmmm... Encounter is scheduled to commence sailing from Brisbane in early May. The reconfiguration from Star  Princess is supposed to take about a month. Allow another two weeks for getting crew aboard and sailing to Australia, and she needs to com out of the reconfiguration by mid march at the latest, and that's not taking in to consideration any quarantine period for the crew.

Do you really think they will dry dock the ship twice in the space of six weeks, or will they just do everything in the one dry dock?

Amid growing optimism of a restart of cruising, soon-to-be Pacific Encounter has arrived in Singapore to be greeted by her new P&O Cruises Australia ‘name badge’ already waiting for her on the dockside.

The ship’s P&O branding — each side 20 metres long, eight metres high and weighing three tonnes — will ultimately be proudly displayed in the familiar position on the funnel high above the top deck.

All of this activity is the latest sign of P&O’s fleet transformation in which Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure will join Pacific Explorer in coming months signalling a bright future for Australia’s home grown cruise line.

“This is also a sign of P&O’s resilience and strength as we look forward to the restart of cruising and the rebuilding of cruising in our region,” said President of Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises Australia Sture Myrmell. “It is also a tribute to P&O’s many loyal guests who have stuck by us through these challenging times.”

P&O’s design and technical team members are in Singapore helping to make Pacific Encounter ready for her fleet entry using it as a template for Pacific Adventure’s introduction.

It's usually referred to as the pram handle. 🤣

 

They got smarter in the later builds and moved that structure, which contained a bar/nightclub under Princess, further midships. It's a great place to have a drink during sailaways.

I liked Sky walkers, especially as many didn't know it existed.

I suppose once you’re in there with a skin full it wouldn’t look that bad.

It tended to be used for the Platinum/Elite/Suites happy hour so we never got to go to the one on Golden as we didn't reach Platinum until the end of that cruise, but certainly enjoyed Skywalkers on Diamnond and Ruby. It's also a nice quiet place to go during the day although the bar isn't open then. On Diamond we often popped up there between morning trivia and lunch. It's a shame they never offered it as an alternative coffee venue.

They removed the pram handle on one of the ships, might have been the Grand, not sure. The handle with skywalkers was great, a nightly ritual.

Well said we Princess clientle practice the responsible consumption of alcohol, we dont have skinfuls, just get happy, lol. You must have us confused with P and O Straya people.

Only used for the PES happy hours in the early evening, around 5 or 5.30 to 7-7.30pm. We would go up there at all hours for a quiet nook, being able to see the wake as well as forward was great.

Exactly and rule number one is don't have more than two Boulvardiers during happy hour! 🤣Those things pack a punch.

Yes, although on the Golden repo cruise we did it was being used as the teen hangout during the day as they were renovating the usual teen hangout area. So we couldn't go there during the day or in the early evenings.

Loved going up there in the daytime and looking forward to the bow.  Brilliant on rough days when you can see the spray coming over the bows and the pitching of the ship.  Gives you an idea of how rough the seas are.

 

I think she looks better from the side, rather elegant when viewed a distance away.  Not good from aft.
